Attention students! We invite you to participate in the Halina Skibniewskaya - HEALTHY HOUSE competition organized by Architektura&Biznes magazine. We are looking for designs of single-family and multi-family houses that are user and nature friendly, functional and created with residents in mind. Show us your definition of sustainable and healthy architecture!
Today, in a post-pandemic reality, the space in which we live has become very important. Houses and apartments are the places where we spend most of our time - they have become an office, school, kindergarten, private gym and relaxation zone. Constantly staying within four walls has made us aware of the tremendous impact that our surroundings have on our well-being and health.
what are we looking for?
The goal of our Halina Skibniewskaya student competition - HEALTHY HOUSE is to promote healthy, sustainable residential architecture that is user- and environment-friendly. We are looking for the best design of a single-family or multi-family house, functionally thought out and created with the needs of the residents in mind. In harmony with nature, laid out in such a way as to offset energy losses and facilitate ventilation of rooms. A design that includes wise, ecological solutions.

patron of the competition
For the patron of the competition we did not accidentally choose Halina Skibniewska (1921-2011), an outstanding architect, urban planner, professor and lecturer at the Warsaw University of Technology, who was particularly close to housing.

Housing, contrary to the opinions of some, I consider housing to be a basic architectural task, the basic creation of the landscape. That is why I am particularly interested in two areas: the social environment and the natural environment," said Halina Skibniewska in an interview with the monthly magazine "Architektura" in 1977.
Halina Skibniewska designed primarily with the convenience of the residents in mind. She designed, among others: Żoliborskie Orchards,Szwoleżerów Estate, and each estate of her design was people-friendly and submerged in greenery. The architect applied the principle of interdisciplinary design in her works - she took into account the interdependence of social, ecological, cultural and landscape conditions. This is the kind of design thinking we are looking for in the competition. A house design that combines sensitivity to social needs, but also respect for nature and natural resources.
