New trees for the company's forest - GEZE is celebrating Christmas for the third time with a tree planting campaign for the climate. As a specialist in innovative and modern door and window technology, together with the social enterprise Treedom, GEZE will plant another 10,000 trees. This brings GEZE's total contribution to a remarkable 6,417 tons of stored CO2. The company's forest is maintained and used by local small farmers in Africa, Asia and Central America.
one tree, double effect
GEZE chose Treedom as its tree planting partner because this agro-forestry initiative offers much more than just calculated CO2 storage. The average deciduous tree binds about 12.5 kg of CO2 per year. But a well-managed agro-forest can do much more: depending on the species of tree, they produce fruit that contributes significantly to food security and income for local people, improving soil quality through the root system and providing protection from erosion. Treedom's goal is to create such sustainable forests around the world, in cooperation with local people.

strengthening local communities
Countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Nepal and Guatemala are already directly affected by climate change. This is making living conditions for people who are already living on the edge of safety even worse. GEZE, along with our company's forest, which grows year after year, is also committed to stabilizing and improving the economic conditions of these people. GEZE trees are planted and managed by local small farmers. The company has deliberately chosen a mix of species that meet different ecological and economic needs. Papayas and mangoes provide food security and can be sold at the market. Species such as grevillea are popular grazers for insects and bind a particularly high amount of CO2 per tree. In addition, they also improve the quality of already damaged soils and even grow in difficult locations. GEZE's forest is currently managed by some 3,600 small farmers over a long period of time.

GEZE festively and ecologically
This year's GEZE Christmas cards are also specially prepared with ecology in mind - made of special ecological paper in which seeds are embedded. After reading it, the card can be planted in a pot, watered and watched as new plants sprout. In this way, the company sends its partners and customers the power of Christmas wishes and promotes ecology at the same time.
