Along the Motława waterfront, pedestrians can walk all the way to Polski Hak - that is, the outermost part of the promontory. The walking boulevard was created as part of a housing development built in an area that had long remained undeveloped.
Sienna Grobla is part of the so-called Polski Haka - an area located at the mouth of the Motława River to the Dead Vistula. This area, located somewhat out of the way, although only a few hundred meters from Olowianka Island, has long been waiting for development, and various visions have been floated for years.

apartments on Polski Hak
The most famous one was presented in 2008 by architect Daniel Libeskind, who, commissioned by the Landmark company, proposed a 190-meter-high skyscraper. The idea was picked up by another owner of the site , Eco-Classic, which together with Gdańsk architect Marcin Kozikowski proposed a 170-meter development. In the end, the bold visions remained only on paper; the zoning plan for the area, passed in 2021, allowed buildings no higher than 30 meters to be erected on Polski Hak. It was not until last year that devloper Robyg erected a new residential and commercial development on the site, with a total of 668 apartments. But it won't end there, with about 750 more units planned in four buildings in further phases. The design of the entire development was created by SIM Architekci studio.

new place for walking
As part of the development, the developer has also developed the waterfront, which offers a view toward the Main City.
The redevelopment of the waterfront boulevards is another step in the revitalization of the waterfront aimed at providing comfort to both residents and those wishing, for example, to go for a walk in this unique historical place , says Oscar Kazanelson, chairman of Robyg's supervisory board.
As the company calculates, as part of the PLN 11 million worth of work, more than 300 meters of roadway and more than 600 meters of sidewalk were renovated, dozens of trees and more than 6,000 pieces of low vegetation were planted, more than 450 sq. m. were created. rain gardens, but also rebuilt more than 1,500 meters of water, sewer and gas mains. Small architecture was also created: benches and bicycle racks. Greenery maintenance will now be the responsibility of the City.

The work is not yet completely finished - there is still a 150-meter section of the road left, the reconstruction of which did not receive the approval of the city conservator. The reason was the historic tracks located there.
