We recently wrote about the awards with which designers from the Wroclaw-based MIXD studio returned from London. Today, remaining in the thread of International Property Awards 2019-2020 honors, we present an exceptional project that won in the category of architecture of public buildings in Poland.
Nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award, awarded the Architecture Award of the President of the City of Warsaw for the best public building, honored in the SARP 2018 Award of the Year competition - Akademeia Highschool in Warsaw designed by Medusa Group studio architects is an original building that is far from typical educational facilities in Poland.

The school is expected to attract interesting and ambitious people who would like to develop in various directions. The host, Tacit Investment, was very much in favor of making sure that everything that happens around learning is not typical. That's why there are no desks in the building, everyone works on an oval table system, and teachers don't have a staff room. We wanted to create an ambiguous, multifunctional and inspiring place," says Przemo Lukasik of Medusa Group.
School life at the private high school building on Swieta Urszula Ledóchowska Street in Warsaw centers around a large, stepped grandstand. Edible herbs grow on the roof of the facility, beehives stand and telescopes face the sky. There is also a cafeteria resembling a fashionable restaurant, professional work space, laboratories, an art studio, a music room with a recording studio, a photography studio, a theater auditorium and a multimedia studio for students to use.

The facility is not only interesting in terms of architectural or educational solutions. The building is fully ecological, having received the highest level of Platinium in the LEED certification program, which means that it is a sustainable building with the highest standard of applied ecological and energy-saving solutions.
