The permanent state of distraction affects everyone. The multitude of distractions present in both public and private spaces is significant. As a result, we become overstimulated, overtired, cursory, and lose the ability to develop perception, making us vulnerable to stress that causes many diseases. The project is a voice in the discussion on the possibility of solving such social problems through the influence of space.

I propose the concept of a place that, through new forms designed in the ruins of Swina Castle (which once had defensive functions), will become a kind of shelter for humans in the face of the chaos outside. The most important for the functional premise is the Focusing Spaces, where workshop zones are envisaged to develop in the viewer the practice of mindfulness, ritual, to improve his ability to concentrate, to provide tranquility, and to enable experience and deepen perception - both in a spatial and personal context. Opportunities for longer stays are provided by the Meal and Sleep Spaces, and a program designed with the history of the facility in mind is carried out by the Exhibition Space.

The ruins of the Swina Castle are not a background for the designed interior, they are part of it, despite the overriding assumption not to disturb the old walls. The time enchanted in them is linked to reflection on what has passed. It is also a form of concentration and contemplation intertwined with silence. By understanding the many meanings of the ruins, as well as their symbolism, the substantive and functional program of the project refers to their contexts and mysterious atmosphere. The whole project also represents a metaphorical reconstruction of the ruins, and a mental renewal of the individual. Relics, despite their fragility, persist, which translates into the human being, his existence in the world and psychophysical condition. Keeping a distance between them and the new architectural forms is, above all, an expression of respect for the historical object. Moving, displacement and detachment are inscribed in the characteristics of ruins. They are also associated with fragmentation, which in turn evokes frames or frameworks. In the designed spaces, this idea was conveyed through the shaping of load-bearing walls. In the way the interiors are created, it is evident through the main structural wall, balustrades and furniture forms resulting from the architectural structure. Clearances in this structure creep across its surface, delineating views of individual zones. Attention focused on individual fragments intensifies concentration, which aids in deepening perception.

The conceptual premise of the structure is based on the relationship of reinforced concrete and glass. Fragmentary cavities in the perimeter walls are compensated by relieving internal partitions, which, together with elevator shafts, support the ceilings of subsequent floors. The exterior elevations are covered with mirrored glass cladding that transitions non-invasively into the window frames.

The floors in the Space of Contemplation were shaped by means of mezzanines, thanks to which the volume between floors was opened up. Common areas are intermingled with places of seclusion - the rotunda, which is moved outside the main architectural mass, is a form of intimate asylum. Clearly demarcated, it is accessible through hanging platforms, illustrating the motif of passage.

The geometry of the projections is characterized by minimizing corners in favor of glazing. This is made possible by the composition of internal free walls, which, when pushed and punched, create a kind of analogy to the deconstruction of the walls of the primary tissue. Thus, the projections strive to maintain the rigor of minimalism broken by the expression of the diagonal directions of the structure.

Ruins are a certain timeless individual. This makes them resistant to changing fashions. They also inspire the creation of sketchy complements, the essence of which can be the creation of concepts for their revival. The project is an attempt to leave a personally understood trace in the historical space.
