A complex of residential buildings in Bronowice Małe in Kraków was awarded first place in 2012 in the residential architecture category in the 6th edition of the competition for the Stanislaw Witkiewicz Małopolski Voivodeship Award. Below we remind you of the winning project by the studio Architekci Mikołajski & Wiese.
The building, consisting of seven semi-detached residential buildings, was appreciated by the competition jury for creating an interesting habitat interior, maintained in the tradition and climate appropriate for a small residential complex.

an estate full of greenery
The estate was built at Pod Strzechą Street, on the edge of the Bronowice Małe district in Cracow. The project included a complex of seven repetitive residential buildings, arranged on the plot in a way that made the best use of the local terrain qualities and emphasized the picturesqueness of the place. The architects also managed to leave a considerable amount of tall greenery and add new plantings.

Each of the designed buildings is a two-family house with a separate area for individual use, including terraces with southern or western exposure. The axis of the assumption is a common pedestrian and vehicular access road, departing from Pod Strzechą Street, from which exits lead to individual garages located under each building.
traditional development
As the architects say about the project:
Adoption of the final gabarit of the buildings was preceded by a landscape study. The buildings were designed in a uniform, subdued character of architectural expression, and a uniform standard of technical solutions was adopted. The form of the buildings refers to traditional suburban buildings. Hence, the use of wood and local broken limestone further emphasizes the desire to remain in harmony with the existing cultural landscape and nature.
The interiors of the houses are spacious, contemporarily designed spaces opening up to the greenery and the surrounding landscape.
