The interiors of the Poznań apartment break the conventions of a typical feminine apartment with pastel colors. Architect Agnieszka Deptuła of the SPACELAB studio, inspired by the personality of the future owner, proposed a juxtaposition of dark, strong colors with soft textures and jewel-like accents.
The investor, who is an admirer of urban lifestyle, city-breaks and olive trees, had only one requirement - she dreamed of a black kitchen anda sofa in a shade of bottle green. Fulfilling these requests, the architect suggested that the living room be framed by two black walls - on the opposite side of the kitchen stood another dark wall, this time with a textured structure to diffuse light.

A large mirror hung on it introduces the illusion of endless space. As a counterbalance to the gray and black, there is a feminine accent in the heart of the apartment in the form of a closet with gold lining. A balcony with a special orangery for herbs and flowers, including the owner's beloved olives, is also an important element. The designer also made an important change - she removed the low free-standing radiator and replaced it with a modern wall-mounted version. This gave her a clean visual frame to the balcony, as well as space for a standing, delicate gold lamp and a table next to the sofa.

Dobrawa Bies: What was the main inspiration for this project?
Agnieszka Deptuła: The personality of the future owner :)
Dobrawa Bies: What were the expectations and needs of the investor?
Agnieszka Deptuła: The investor specified only two requirements at the beginning of the project. Her dream was to have a black kitchen and a sofa in a shade of bottle green - she was open to other ideas.

Dobrawa Bies: Where did you get the idea for such a combination of colors, patterns and materials?
Agnieszka Deptuła: I was looking for materials that together would create a fascinating whole. I didn't want to close myself in light, powder colors - traditionally associated with feminine interiors. This was to be an interior for a modern and dynamic woman, one with character. That's why soft textures and feminine jewelry accents clash in this project with a dark, even masculine color scheme.
Dobrawa Bies: What gave you the most satisfaction in creating this project, and what was the biggest challenge?
Agnieszka Deptuła: The most satisfaction was the trust that the investor showed me in choosing unconventional materials, such as the gold polished texture of the cabinet and marmoleum on the floor. The biggest challenge was just convincing the investor to use them!
