Tourism development - such an opportunity is being sought for the village of Łąkie by the Lipka municipality. Its physical manifestation has become the Sports and Tourism Center, located on Lake Lacki, by which this small village is situated. The puzzling body was designed by Agnieszka Chudy of the Arch-Point design studio.
Łąkie is a village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, located on a lake, right on the border with the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Not much is happening here, and not much is being built either. However, in the past two years a building has been erected here , which with its puzzling form attracts the eye and arouses curiosity. Ultimately, it is also expected to attract tourists, and with them investor money.

geometric slope
The sports and tourism center in Łąko was built on the shore of a small glacial lake. The plot of land on which the investment was planned was a hole in the landscape - sand was previously mined here, resulting in a steep escarpment. It was this that became the inspiration for the unusual form of the building, which apparently tries to be an attempt to recreate what is no longer there - the slope, falling gently towards the shoreline of the lake. However, Agnieszka Chudy imagined it using geometric forms - for the wall slopes of the unusual building are triangles, quadrilaterals and pentagons with dynamic shapes. The sports and tourism center in Meadow looks more like the result of a drawing exercise or origami folding than a full-fledged building. Is the unusual form also followed by an unconventional functional program? How does the building relate to the surrounding natural landscape?

made entirely of wood
The construction of the Meadowlands Sports and Tourism Center, while financially relatively expensive, was instead environmentally economical. The building was largely erected from larch wood - in a way that minimized unnecessary waste of material. Geometric in its forms, the building is an example of circular architecture - thanks to the skeletal structure and the appropriate ways of assembling the individual elements, it can be dismantled and moved to another location if necessary. However, it looks like it will stay in the Meadow for a while. The unconventional body, although puzzling, has been received rather warmly by residents.

many activities under one roof
They have a lot to be happy about, because Agnieszka Chudy managed to fit several interesting functionalities into the abstract form of the Sports and Tourism Center. The small facility has full sanitary facilities located on the east side - there are toilets, including a toilet for people with disabilities, technical rooms or storage rooms. Not only was the space under the sloping roof used, but also on it. Indeed, an auditorium was installed on the roof to be used for events or outdoor cinema.

On the other side of the building were five spacious rooms. There is a gazebo, which serves as a meeting place and protection from the rain. Right next to it there is also storage for deck chairs. To the north, the most functionally interesting spaces were placed. This is because the sports and tourism center in Meadow offers residents and visitors a sauna and a room with a water log. The sports character of the facility, in turn, is evidenced by a water equipment rental shop, located on the opposite side of the building.

a small step into the future
The sports and tourism center in Łąko is not only the main, unremarkable building, but also the infrastructure created around it. A playground, an outdoor gym and a place for bonfires appeared right next to it. The waterfront was also developed, which is now equipped with two piers. The village 's tourist potential is to be unleashed by small summer cottages, which were made using modular technology, allowing their location to be changed. The new sports and tourism center, however, is first and foremost an opportunity for the local community - not only to attract visitors, and thus develop the village. The resulting infrastructure benefits the residents themselves, including children attending the nearby elementary school. Will the relatively expensive investment make the small village vibrant? Time will tell, although the construction of the sports and tourism center seems like a good start.
