O!Dent is an unusual dental clinic located near Toruń. Surrounded by greenery, the location became an inspiration for architects from {tag:pracownie} to create a place where the visitor will not feel like in a sterile office, but will relax in a soft chair and be enveloped by the soothing green space of the waiting room.
Architects from MAKA.STUDIO, together with the bold investor, opted for strong color, broken by delicate pastels. Light and dark colors create different spaces that intermingle and complement each other. The waiting room, submerged in green, is conducive to relaxation, while the registration room is illuminated and highlighted with bleached pink. The offices, more subdued than the other rooms, are kept in soft tones. Pastels lend softness and coziness to the rooms, while black accessories add elegance.

Dobrawa Bies: O!DENT is very different from typical dental offices. Was it easy to convince investors for such a bold project?
MAKA.STUDIO: The unusual O!DENT dental clinic is the result of cooperation with the investor, who from the beginning was set on strong color combinations, so we managed to achieve an interesting effect. The client, who is open to bold decisions, is a great mobilization to create a distinctive interior.
The design premise was to bring nature into the interior

Dobrawa: What did the investor expect and what were the design assumptions?
MAKA.STUDIO: The investor expected that it would not be a typical, sterile clinic. She wanted to make her clinic stand out from others, and we believe that this was fulfilled. The building where the premises are located is surrounded by greenery, the premise was to bring nature inside.
The colorful bathroom does not resemble typical dental offices

Dobrawa: Both strong and pastel colors are an important element of the interior. Where did this decision come from? Can color affect the mood of customers?
MAKA.STUDIO: With the color scheme we created a kind of light and shadows that are created in a natural environment, among the trees. The bright registration, highlighted with pastel pink, contrasts with the dark green waiting room. The two parts, despite being in the same space, have different functions and therefore different moods. We believe that color can affect the mood of customers. In addition to color, such an element is also the light, and even the place they sit on. A hard chair in a white waiting room will affect us differently than stimuli in the form of color, subdued light, natural plants and a soft chair in which to relax while waiting for an appointment. We wanted to give the waiting patient time to himself, a moment of rest. The offices are different , here it is also colorful, but in pastel. This is a space for precision work, so it needs to be well-lit.
Cabinets are also colorful, but in pastels

Dobrawa: Does designing the space of offices, such as this one, for example, follow different rules than designing the interior of apartments?
MAKA.STUDIO: Designing offices compared to private interiors has a lot of restrictions and regulations that we have to follow. This limits some design decisions, while forcing us to look for interesting solutions that can be introduced to give the interior an individual expression.
