On July 8, 2023, elections were held for the International Union of Architects. Among the newly elected vice presidents was Jerzy Grochulski, a Polish architect and former president of SARP.
During the 28th Congress of the International Union of Architects(Union Internationale des Architectes - UIA), held in Copenhagen, new authorities of the association were elected. The previous president, José Luis Cortés, interviewed on A&B by Lukasz Harat, will be replaced by Regina Gonthier, a Swiss architect working in Bern at Gonthier Architekten.
Among the newly elected authorities, the representative for Central and Eastern Europe is Jerzy Grochulski - a Polish architect, urban planner and professor at the Warsaw University of Technology, who served as president of the Association of Polish Architects from 2006 to 2012. He served as SARP president in 2022, following the resignation of Bohdan (Bisia) Lisowski. Jerzy Grochulski was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland in 2012.
Rui Leão Macau became secretary of the new authorities. Seif Alnaga was again appointed treasurer. Teresa Taboas of Spain became the representative for Region I, Nivaldo Andrade of Brazil for Region III, Zhang Li of China for Region IV and Vity Nsalambi of Angola for Region V. The term of office of the new authorities will be three years.
