A private school and kindergarten complex designed by the Horizone Studio architectural office will be built in Krakow's Debniki district on Obrońców Poczty Gdanska Street. What will distinguish it? As the authors of the project assure, the buildings will not only be functional and visually attractive, but also pro-environmental.
The buildings of the educational complex will, on the one hand, be adjacent to the Communications School Complex and its sports facilities, and on the other - to the residential buildings of the villa district of Krakow. The aim of the project was to create an attractive premise of high standard housing private educational institutions - two schools and a kindergarten.

The prestigious location of the project required, in our opinion, the development of architecture with high aesthetic qualities, a simple and restrained form and friendly development of the plot, says Krystian Wawer architect and partner at Horizone Studio. - We believe that education in educational institutions with high architectural standards not only guarantees comfortable conditions for acquiring knowledge, but above all influences the formation of a sense of aesthetics in young people, he adds.
The premise will be formed by two buildings - a minimalist, corner, three-story building housing primary and secondary schools and, deep within the plot, an independent, colorful complex resembling small houses, which will serve as a kindergarten.

Taking into account, among other things, the most favorable layout, exposure of the plot, sunlight, views and communication, the architects planned the two segments of the school symmetrically, which will allow them to function independently. The corner block covered with a green roof on one of the sides is "interrupted" by a glass module running through its entire height, which visually separates the two parts of the building, while inside - it unifies the schools. The two parts will be connected by a gymnasium illuminated by natural light. At the level of the second floor, the architects have planned a garden - a space for nature classes, where students will have the opportunity to observe the ecological solutions used in the project, including a photovoltaic installation and a rainwater retention system.
The one-story kindergarten building, according to the architects, is intended not only to be functional, but above all to create a space friendly to the youngest. Covered with gabled roofs and illuminated by large glazing, the houses with their scale, form and colors are to meet the needs of children.

The implementation of such designed facilities will give the opportunity to create a modern place for the development of children from the earliest years up to and including high school graduation. The complex itself, with its ecological, functional, aesthetic and architectural qualities, has a chance to become a "teaching aid" that will transfer knowledge from theory to reality, which students use on a daily basis. It is hoped that in such a designed facility, it will be easier for teachers to realize the potential of students. Ultimately, the operation of the school and kindergarten in such a convention is expected to be effective for students, teachers, the facility operator and the property owner," concludes Krzysztof Swan, vice president of Newberg, which commissioned the project.
