In 2015, French architecture firm archi5 completed the modernization of another high school in Normandy. Earlier, the team of architects completed a project to expand the facility in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, located partly underground. This time the studio took on the task of merging two high schools in the town of Gisors. The Louise Michel and Louis Aragon high schools are located in Gisors. Louis Aragon are located in an area with a rich historical context, and the upgrade added a new cafeteria, dormitory and sports hall to the existing facilities. The main goal of the project was to integrate the two separate campuses into a cohesive whole.

integrated spatial layout of the campus
At the western end of the campus is the sports hall, which is adjacent to the dormitory and canteen. Slightly farther away is the Louis Aragon High School building, and the centerpiece of the layout is a bridge that serves as a link between the facilities. On the eastern side of the complex is located the Louise Michel High School, closing the spatial layout of the campus.

linking campuses
- improving communication and security
Although the two high schools are in close proximity, they are separated by considerable space. Once completed, the architects designed the space to improve the accessibility of the routes connecting the two campuses and increase student safety.

bridge building as a key element of
educational space
A key element of the new campus is the so-called bridge building - a structure with the form of a traditional house. Using long ramps, the building acts as a link between the two schools, creating a convenient pathway that connects the playing fields of Louise Michel High School and Louis Aragon High School, integrating the two institutions.

Modular construction of the bridge connecting the high schools
The bridge connecting the high schools in Gisors is a multi-element structure consisting of modules with the form of traditional houses. Each segment has a rectangular base and a gabled roof, creating a distinctive rhythm of repeating volumes along the entire crossing. All "houses" are covered with a gabled roof. The spatial arrangement not only provides a connection between the campuses, but also serves a utilitarian function - inside there are spaces for studying and accommodating students, as well as a sports hall.

The project integrated into the historic landscape of Gisors
The two high schools are located on opposite sides of the historic Eragny Street, and their campuses are separated by de Verdun Street. The goal of the project was to create an educational space that blends into the character of the city, connecting its historical heritage with the surrounding contemporary landscape.
