A hotel and residential complex in Dubai,
design: Foster + Partners
"The Lana" hotel and residential complex "The Lana Residences," designed by the architectural firm Foster + Partners, has opened in Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates. Located close to the city center, along Marasi Marina, the development draws on its coastal character through the use of organic curves, green spaces and flowing forms.

architectural symbiosis:
A combination of hotel and apartments
The building consists of two volumes - one for the hotel and the other for the residents - that float above the ground, reaching 31 and 30 stories respectively. Both blocks take the shape of the letter "F," one of which is an inverted version of it. The structures interconnect in a way that resembles a jigsaw puzzle layout.

The glass facade is divided by horizontal slats in a delicate shade of beige, characterized by rounded edges that introduce a sense of lightness and rhythmicity. These elements serve the function of protecting interiors and gardens from excessive sunlight, ensuring the comfort of the space all year round. Vertical balance is introduced by solid pillars.

seven gardens: the ecological heart of the project
and space for the community
At the heart of the project are seven interconnected vertical gardens, which serve a key function in highlighting the ecological and social aspect of the concept. In addition, these gardens enhance the accessibility of public spaces, offering numerous places for guests, residents and visitors to relax.

The goal of the project was to create a building that adapts to its surroundings, offering a unique space with interactive gardens. A key consideration was to ensure seamless transitions between the various spaces and a harmonious relationship with the waterfront location
- said Gerard Evenden,

Inspired by nature: interiors in the spirit of the landscape
United Arab Emirates
The interiors, designed by Paris-based studio Gilles & Boissier, are characterized by carefully selected materials, diverse textures and a subtle color palette that allude to the natural desert landscape of the United Arab Emirates.
The design is intended to play the role of an urban resort that enlivens the waterfront, providing visitors from around the world with a place to relax and protect themselves from Dubai's hot climate
- Gerard Evenden added.

The building's façade seamlessly connects the marina to the access road, shaping a central public space with stores, restaurants and cafes. This waterfront development has the potential to become an important element on the city map.
