A new fire station has been built in Bosutów, a small village located in the Zielonki municipality near Kraków. The distinctive building with an upturned roof and Yakisugi wood-fired facade was designed by architects from the ARP Manecki studio.

A modern fire station opened in Bosutow in early July this year. According to architect Mateusz Manecki, the use of black tan boards, which resemble a burnt façade, was a deliberate procedure associated with firefighting. The aforementioned Japanese Yakisugi wood treatment method involves tanning, brushing, another tanning and brushing, and then oiling. This makes the wood extremely durable and resistant to insects. In addition, to enhance the color contrast around the doors and windows of the firehouse, a yellow finish was used, referring to the warning signs.

An eye-catching element of the fire station is the inverted roof.
During the design, we used an interesting architectural procedure - an inverted roof with an inward slope. Thanks to this, in the attic, keeping the same parameters, we were able to design a large room for fifty people, where meetings and training sessions will be held," explains ARP Manecki's chief architect.

On the first floor, meanwhile, there are locker rooms, a command center overlooking the maneuvering area and two garage spaces. The focal point of the building is the staircase, where a statue of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, will be displayed in the future.

multifunctional village house
The fire station is not the only building that opened this year in the Zielonki municipality. A second building was also built at the same time - the sołectwa house on the Łokietka estate in Zielonki, distinguished by its bright facade made of architectural concrete. Inside, the architects placed the reeve' s office and a large hall with a stage, which can be divided into two smaller ones.
