Michal Dyniakowski - a student of the Interior Design Department at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw - has developed a project combining the function of a traditional barber shop with the function of a club modeled on American golf clubs. His "Barber Shop & Club" was created as part of a class at the Interior Design Studio under the supervision of Prof. Katarzyna Anna Jagiełło, PhD.

idea
American golf clubs serve various functions: social (including generational integration), political and purely sporting. The proposed facility aims to fill the gap by combining various functions, including services related to the cutting and grooming of men's beards and faces, as well as beauty treatments, which are routine, repetitive activities. It is also intended to be a space for camaraderie that creates a community and is a way to keep in touch, as well as professional advice on male aesthetics, including both haircuts and the use of cosmetics and supplements.

In everyday life, it is difficult to find a place where these different functions are combined, as they usually exist as separate entities. This project aims to move away from the usual pattern prevalent in current hair salons. The design is shown in simple, clean forms. The interior is slightly industrial, based on wooden elements, infused with a "lumberjack" spirit.

interior
The designed interior is based on dynamic bevels, geometry and cuts of planes, taken into account in the form and in the choice of materials and lighting. The facility has been divided into several functional zones. Among them is a store with a barber store and men's cosmetics assortment, with a reception desk located in the center of the store and a long triangular-shaped lobby, inviting customers deeper into the facility, where there are individual barbering stations, including double ones.

This layout is designed to create an atmosphere where a visit to the barber shop is not just a haircut, but also an opportunity to meet colleagues, exchange ideas and make new friends. The facility also has a bar, which acts as a waiting room for customers waiting their turn at the barber's, and a reading room where you can peruse the political press, sports press, etc.

In addition, social meeting areas are available to complement a visit to the store or as an alternative to traditional casual gatherings. The facility's infrastructure includes men's and women's restrooms, staff facilities with a locker room, kitchen, rest area with individual restroom, and two storage areas - one for barber station and store supplies, and another for the bar.

color scheme and materials
The color scheme of the facility's interior is monochromatic, with combined shade zones. The purpose of this treatment was to focus the viewer's attention on the textures and shapes used, which lead us to the materials used and their characteristic features, which react to light.

The materials used in the project are primarily resin concrete, treated as a link between functional and monochromatic zones, aiming to unify the entire building. Cut and brushed steel sheeting was used in the form of straight lines and classic shapes, aiming to emphasize and enhance the character of the interior. Steel grating, stretched and powder-coated in white and black colors, was used to divide the building into functional zones, similar to the horizontal and vertical LED lines. Matte PVC board in white and black was used as a complementary material, as was black leather with discoloration, used to upholster the seating at the bar and barber stations.
