Artificial intelligence is growing faster and faster. Instead of seeing it as a threat, it is worth using it as a tool for everyday work. In the architecture industry, too, AI is gaining more and more applications, whether for automating design processes or at universities and research institutions. On March 26, 2025, a training lecture addressing the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to support the work of architects and urban planners was held at the Regional Didactic, Conference and Library-Administrative Center of the Rzeszow University of Technology.
The lecture, under the theme "Application of AI in architectural and urban design", was organized by the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture at Rzeszow University of Technology in cooperation with the Podkarpackie Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland.

Will artificial intelligence replace architects?
The event at Politechnika Rzeszowska provided an opportunity to ask questions about what are the AI tools that can be used in both architectural and urban design. The organizers also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on the architectural and urban design profession.
The lecture was given by Urszula Kuczma, a graduate of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Cracow University of Technology and Cognitive Science at the University of Warsaw. During her career, Urszula Kuczma has worked as a project manager at Noiz Architects in Tokyo and as a data analysis specialist in the AI industry at start-up expertisly and at Nestlé Poland.
Artificial intelligence is likely to prove helpful in an architect's work already at the level of working with text or when generating images. Generative AI can be used in various forms, and it also allows for the author's preferred aesthetics.
Cities are already using AI
In addition to these issues, during the lecture Urszula Kuczma also presented how AI tools can be used in urban planning using selected examples used in various cities around the world. Artificial intelligence is already being used to analyze sites, improve political participation or cluster information and correct already existing solutions. The speaker also presented the principles of agent-based modeling.
Among the examples she cited was the 2023 participatory workshop in Helsinki, where participants used generative AI tools to create concepts for developing central streets in the city that are closed during the summer months. Another example was an initiative being implemented in cities in Colombia, where IDB software was used to analyze areas where informal settlements are being built. The lecture also included the ethical and legal aspects of using AI at work.

The event provided an opportunity for people involved in the architecture industry and those studying architecture to get further training in the use of the latest solutions.
