The subject of the work is the design of an animal adoption center with a separate area for the socialization of cats and dogs, along with spaces for people visiting the center. It is a facility designed to house temporary dogs and cats, a place where future owners can adopt an animal and seek help in socializing their charges in safe conditions under the guidance of specialists. The center can also be visited by organized groups such as children, young people, people from retirement homes, etc.

The interior design is adapted to the needs of the animals staying there, taking into account the appropriate materials and colors in order to build both a functional and friendly environment for the animals and the people staying or visiting the place. The world as seen through the eyes of a dog or cat looks very different from what humans see. It has been proven that dogs and cats are excellent at distinguishing colors and their intensity. In addition, it has been noted that different colors evoke animation in different species of animals. In the case of dogs, the colors that play the greatest role are blue and yellow. It is in these colors that dogs perceive their surroundings and react most vividly to these colors.

However, they do not distinguish the color red. The world is perceived slightly differently by cats than by dogs. This is due to their excellent night vision. Cats perceive blue, yellow and green best. There is no red in the spectrum of perceived colors, as in dogs. The main goal of the project is to create a building adapted to the needs of animals, it is to be both a home and a place for their development, training, but also to have a positive impact on the psyche of the animals staying there, among other things, through the design of open spaces, meeting places with outsiders, but also through the use of appropriate colors in the interiors. The inspiration to create such a place is to convey a deeper idea and to make us aware of how great responsibility we have towards pets. Although awareness of this topic is growing in society, however, in order to develop it more, it is necessary to continue to create such places, increase their number, so that education shapes the right outlook on animals from an early age. This is extremely important and necessary, because despite the ubiquitous access to information and data, we still encounter situations where animals are treated objectively and without respect.

The main inspiration for my work is the work of one of the most prominent artists of the interwar period, Katarzyna Kobro. Her spatial compositions became the leitmotif and the starting point for building the visual side of the interior of the hostel I designed. The inspiration applies to both spatial compositions and color solutions, which perfectly fit into the issue of color perception by animals, which is, in a way, also one of the issues addressed in my work. Complementing the inspiration will be other works of Neoplasticism with formal means characteristic of this style. Thus, a coherent whole has been created. All these elements contribute to the character of the interior, but they also have a functional significance - the use of ceramics is a suitable solution for hygienic reasons.

The adoption center is a single-story building, fully designed for the needs of running a facility of this type. The ground-floor form of the building was chosen because of the mobility of the animals and therefore more convenient movement on one level of the building. In the middle of the building is an atrium, serving as an enclosed animal enclosure. The building is provided with all the necessary zones, these are the areas needed for the functioning of animals and people, as well as the zones necessary due to the hygiene and sanitary regulations applicable to this type of place.
