Other Walks in Wroclaw
The PKWN housing estate, whose main designer was architect Kazimierz Bienkowski, the crowning building of Lotos, known as the "Single Man's House," and Legion Square are little-known places on the map of Wroclaw in terms of their value and history . However, buildings, such as the point-buildings known as "czworaczki" on Piłsudskiego Street, designed by architect Konrad Jarodzki in miastoprojekt, are increasingly attracting the attention of tourists and residents interested in architecture and history. The walk will introduce the architectural and urban planning assumptions of this area of the city, which, as part of the great reconstruction of Wroclaw, were supposed to be an answer to the social problems of the time. Registration is required for the walk.
Dr. Agata Gabiś - art historian, works at the Institute of History of the University of Wroclaw and cooperates with the Foundation for the Promotion of Art "Transformator". Author of the book "The Whole Sea of Building" about Wroclaw architecture. She deals with post-war architecture, the borderlands of architecture, sociology and history, and artistic design.
Other Walks - is a series of walks around the center of Wroclaw, organized in cooperation with the Office of City Promotion and Tourism and the Office of Economic Development. The goal is to promote a different perspective on the city center, because everyone has their center somewhere else. The heart of the city beats in local businesses, residents and unusual stories! The "Other Center" project is growing under the wings of the House of Peace Foundation.
