Konrad Jarodzki, an outstanding Polish painter and architect, died on November 23. In the 1990s he was the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. He was among the founders of the artistic "Wroclaw Group". He was considered the doyen of Wroclaw's artistic community. He was 94 years old.
Konrad Jarodzki was born in 1927 in Zaklikowo in the Lublin region, but spent most of his life in Wroclaw, where he came to study architecture at the Wroclaw University of Technology. He later went on to study painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. From 1967 he also taught at this school, of which he later became the rector twice. He co-founded the "Wroclaw Group" from 1961.

Konrad Jarodzki designed Wrocław's famous "Punktowce," also known as "Czworaczki," on Świerczewskiego (now Piłsudskiego) Street. It was one of the first building complexes of this type in Wroclaw. "Czworaczki" was awarded the title " Mister Wroclaw" in 1961.

He was active primarily in the field of painting. He experimented with abstract and surrealist painting, especially those that created the illusion of spatiality. He said this about his painting:
Space is the subject of my painting. By achieving the most suggestive illusion possible, I want to express this untruth, which is the transformation of the painting wall into an open picture window. Disappearing the painting as an object and giving it the rank of a stimulator of experience, allowing the viewer to forget the real situation, which is: viewer - space - painting and believe in the new situation: viewer - space - space.

Konrad Jarodzki was the protagonist of the film "In Absolute Silence" dedicated to the artist. It is an attempt to tell the story of his life and work. The author of the film is director and film producer Lukasz Srodka, privately the grandson of Konrad Jarodzki.
