Milliken's series of mats and carpets with printed visual information
Inspiration from the series "Floors, terraces - 2020 trends"
The Covid-19 epidemic has revised much, including the existing way of doing work and operating offices, co-working spaces, etc. After a time of strict quarantine, employers faced a new challenge - to create a safe and hygienic work space. The change, especially one related to well-liked and very natural to us behaviors arising from human nature, may require specialized support. Global manufacturers of professional equipment for commercial and office spaces among them have thought of this, including Milliken.

Minimizing risk
Although many forecasts predict that remote work will be an important part of business reality, office life - in some form - will also return. That's why the main motive for any employer's efforts today is to minimize the likelihood of spreading viruses in shared workspaces.
Among the recommendations made by specialists for creating a safe work space, we can find many guidelines - including maintaining a minimum distance of 2 meters, establishing one-way movement in the office, e.g. clockwise, as many hospitals have adopted during the current outbreak, higher standards for ventilation and maintaining access to fresh air, increasing hygiene standards, and many other protective procedures to guarantee employee safety. After years of creating a welcoming work environment, with an increased sense of belonging and relationship-building at its center, aimed at increasing engagement and company performance, will the necessary changes be implemented quickly and safely?
As the history of many changes shows, also in the area of so-called "workspace" it is worth using design, to learn new social behavior. Well-designed and properly incorporated elements of office space furnishings can facilitate compliance with guidelines related to physical distance and new standards in the work environment.

How to be separate but together?
One of the challenges of the new office reality is to limit the number of people in conference rooms and other common spaces such as corridors, reception area, dining room, elevator. How do you remind people to keep their distance? The best way is to put up appropriate signs, but not just those with information. Are we able to maintain a safe distance of 2 meters throughout the meeting? Maybe it would be easier if we kept our hands spread out, but then it would be difficult to work. Milliken, as one of the top manufacturers of floor coverings for use in office and public facilities, has been dedicated to finding solutions to improve the quality of everyday life since 1865.

Show instead of tell
One of the biggest challenges of the new situation, is the need to raise hygiene standards. Despite the fact that everyone knows this, according to a WIN/Gallup International association survey conducted in 63 European countries, one in three Poles do not wash their hands with soap and water after using the toilet.
Each change of habits is a change at the level of behavior, but also beliefs, so it is worth using to implement it, all available tools to increase effectiveness. One of them could be the use of images in communication. And this is where Milliken came to the rescue. In the new collection you will find, among other things, a series reminding people to wash their hands and other hygiene standards important in the era of fighting the COVID-19 epidemic. All the new products have been created, as always at Milliken, in the spirit of sustainable development and with respect for environmental resources.
