Kociewie is an ethnocultural region lying on the border of two provinces - Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian. There, architects from studiomania Adrian Mani designed an L-shaped house, which, with its brick fac ade, refers to the historic houses of Kociewie villages.

hand-formed brick facade
The basic guideline received from the investors was to use naturally colored brick. The owners, who come from Kociewie, were fascinated by the nobility of this material, which retains high aesthetic qualities even after many years. Traveling around the region, one can come across many historic brick houses that adorn the landscape of the Kociewie villages. That's why we decided to use traditional, hand-formed solid brick on the facade with three-layer wall technology," says Adrian Mania of studiomania studio.

four sloping roofs
The body of the house on the L-shaped plan is quite simple - to the one-story, rectangular part covered by a gabled roof, another, perpendicularly located in the depth of the plot, is attached, in which each function is emphasized by a separate roof. The use of a pitched roof resulted from the provisions of the development conditions. The architects wanted the shape of the roof to be visible in the interior of each room at the same time.
Instead of roofing the house with two roofs arranged along the longer sides, we decided to design, more pitched roofs, so that each of the rooms inside had its own roof. Hence, as a result of the width of the rooms, triangular gables of different sizes appeared, defining the character of the building," says the designer.

The size of the plot and its orientation with respect to the sides of the world influenced the shape of the house. In order to make maximum use of the building's sunlight, the architects decided to place the entrance to the plot on the south side. A two-car garage with a storage loft and a small basement with a boiler room was located at the front, further, in the eastern part of the house, three bedrooms and a bathroom were planned. In the western part there are living rooms - a high living room with a mezzanine, a kitchen and a toilet. The vestibule in the corner of the building provides access to both parts of the house.
