In an era of growing environmental awareness and the need to combat climate change, green building has become one of the hottest topics - among others - in contemporary architecture. The introduction of modern solutions that combine aesthetics, functionality and concern for the environment is not only a trend, but above all a response to challenges. The construction industry is developing dynamically - new technologies, materials and working methods appear almost daily, changing the rules of the game and raising the bar in terms of energy efficiency and environmental protection.
Dynamic development of green construction
Green construction is a field in which progressions (but also setbacks) appear constantly.
The design of zero-energy buildings, the use of renewable energy sources, the use of environmentally friendly materials, etc. - each stage of investment is subject to intensive research and development. Key trends include:
-
Energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction: Buildings designed for minimal energy consumption and optimal insulation, equipped with photovoltaic panels, heat pumps and intelligent energy management systems.
-
Sustainable waste management: Use of technologies to recycle building materials and reduce waste of raw materials.
-
Integration of greenery in architecture: Plant-covered facades, green roofs and vertical gardens not only improve the aesthetics of buildings, but also improve microclimates and increase biodiversity in cities.
Keeping up with changing standards
Despite dynamic growth, the construction industry faces numerous challenges. Constant changes in regulations, increasing demands of environmental standards and the need to adapt to new technologies make it difficult to keep up with all the innovations. Many companies are struggling to adapt quickly to changing standards, which often involves investing in new tools and staff training.
In the green building industry, the pace of change is staggering. New technologies, regulations and market requirements appear almost daily - it's hard to keep up with everything. That's why it's so important to have a partner who monitors these changes and helps implement the best solutions
-says Aneta Majewska, Project Manager at Athenasoft.
Athenasoft's role - we keep our hand on the pulse
As a company with more than 26 years of experience, we know how important it is to keep up and even stay ahead of market needs. We follow the latest trends, analyze changes in regulations and respond to market needs. Our goal is not only to provide technological solutions, but also to support the entire industry in adapting to modern sustainability requirements. Last year, we created the AthDNSH tool, a system that facilitates the assessment of the environmental impact of construction projects in accordance with the DNSH principle derived from the EU Taxonomy. We recently made a comprehensive update to this tool to make it even more responsive to the growing demands of the market.
Athenasoft CEO Kamil Maciaszek emphasizes:
One of our missions is to support the construction industry in its green transformation. We are confident that through continuous innovation and development of tools such as AthDNSH and the upcoming CO₂ calculator, we will contribute to building a better, more sustainable tomorrow.
AthDNSH update - new features and educational support
The update to the AthDNSH tool is not just a graphical change or the addition of new options - it is a comprehensive improvement to the process of assessing the environmental impact of projects. The new version enables:
-
An intuitive dashboard: Upon logging in, the user is presented with a clear dashboard that shows the most important information, such as: recent projects, number of days left until access expires, latest industry topics.
-
Analysis Step Guide: The step system allows the user to track the progress of the project verification process being carried out.
-
Action Category Selection: The user can choose from four categories (construction of new buildings, renovation of existing buildings, installation of energy efficiency equipment, installation of RES technology systems), allowing the analysis to be tailored to the specifics of the project.
-
Expanded study scope: We have added two new scenarios to the original mitigation impact analysis - climate change adaptation and closed-loop economy (GOZ). Each of these scenarios is based on current requirements.
In addition, to support the implementation of the DNSH principles, we have prepared a dedicated ebook that details the methodology for assessing the environmental impact of construction projects. This ebook, available to our clients, includes practical tips, case studies and detailed descriptions of technical qualification criteria. It is also worth mentioning the DNSH and EU Taxonomy in Construction training organized by Athenasoft, which aims to improve industry competence and facilitate the interpretation of regulations.
What does the future hold?
We are not resting on our laurels. The AthDNSH update is only the first step. We are currently working intensively on more tools to support green construction. One of the most anticipated projects is a new CO₂ calculator - a tool that will intuitively allow you to estimate your carbon footprint.
We don't want to give away more details, but there is certainly much to look forward to.

Facts and trends - Why does green building matter?
According to a report by Grand View Research, the global green building market is growing at an annual rate of about 10%. Investors around the world are increasingly paying attention to green solutions that not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also increase property values and improve the comfort of residents. Green construction brings long-term energy savings, and green certifications such as LEED or BREEAM are becoming a guarantee of the highest performance standards. For the building and construction industry, this is a great opportunity to stand out from the competition and gain the trust of customers.
