Zodiac Warsaw Architecture Pavilion invites you to visit the exhibition titled: "Cross section cinema!". - You can watch it live or directly from your home couch. Cinema is one of those things that we still miss today. Sitting down in the dark in a deep armchair with a box of popcorn and entering an alternative world of adventures of movie heroes. Before you, architecture in the face of changing needs and expectations of viewers!
This year marks exactly 90 years since the Atlantic Cinema was founded. Today it is the oldest operating cinema of Warsaw. In the adjacent ZODIAK Warsaw Architecture Pavilion, from May 20, you will be able to see an exhibition dedicated to the city's tabernacles of X muse.
The aim of the exhibition "Cinema section!" is to present architecture in the context of the changing needs and expectations of viewers, resulting from socio-cultural, economic and technological changes. What was the design of cinemas in the past, and what does it look like now? The Atlantic, Iluzjon and the now-defunct Skarpa are the buildings around which we build our story. Who designed them, what they gave to the city and residents, how they adapted to the new reality or why they did not survive. We will also examine how things are now, looking into multiplexes, among others. In the pavilion we will also present title cross-sections, projections, photographs or films. The soft light of neon signs will dominate the whole.
The program accompanying the exhibition will include lectures on the history of buildings and meetings around architecture and cinematography. The program accompanying the exhibition, due to the epidemic, is being carried out online. The accompanying meetings can be viewed live on the YouTube channel: ZODIAK Warsaw Architecture Pavilion. Video reports of the meetings are also posted here.
A curatorial tour of the exhibition "Cinema section! An exhibition on the architecture of Warsaw's cinemas" will also be held live at Zodiac on selected Thursdays and Sundays. The next event takes place on Thursday, July 5 - those wishing to attend can sign up at 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. Seating is limited!
