The Warsaw City Council has decided to increase the budget for the construction of TR Warszawa - by PLN 155 million (until 2028). These funds will allow the announcement of a tender for a General Contractor forthe construction works. Before proceeding with the work, it will be necessary to update the design documentation. The construction project was prepared in 2017, and the regulations have changed since then. According to the original assumptions, the new headquarters of the Museum of Modern Art and TR Warsaw were to be built (on Plac Defilad) at the same time. The lengthy process of acquiring legal title to one of the plots of land necessary for the investment thwarted the assumed schedule. It was for this reason that MSN was able to obtain a valid building permit and begin work. The theater had to wait for the expropriation process to be completed. After years of effort, this process too found a happy ending. The building permit was issued in late 2020.
The commencement of work on the construction of TR Warsaw is a milestone in the process of changes in the center of Warsaw. We are happy that the councilors have supported our efforts and at last the investment process can really begin. The granting of these funds is all the more important, because this is happening in a really difficult situation for the city," adds the deputy mayor.

The Long-Term Financial Plan (for 2022-2025) also includes funds for Warsaw's community centers, including for the construction of new community centers in Ursus, on Gierdziejewskiego Street, and Wesola on the Stara Miłosna estate, among others. The recently established DK Zoliborz is to receive a total of PLN 8 million. (one million already in 2022), and the Wawer Kulturoteka in Falenica - more than PLN 20 million.
Wars cinema will be revived

The end of the year is a good time for Warsaw's culture. On November 30, 2021, a notarial deed was concluded, under which the City became the owner of the building that had housed the Wars cinema since the 1950s and recently housed the independent WARSAW Theater. The developer, who owned part of the building, received another property as part of the swap, and the swap was linked to the necessity of surcharging the difference in property values. By the decision of the councilors, these funds - almost 14 million zlotys - will be used for investment expenses related to culture. They will also be used for the modernization of the building, so that the current activities, related to independent culture, can continue there without any obstacles.
