Jury's opinion
The work best responds to the needs of the Museum pursuing the mission of exhibiting collections, education and conservation and archiving. The project in a balanced way protects and exposes the most important historical values of the Old Vinegar House building. The covered courtyard properly combines the functions of education, catering, conferences and a representative entrance to exhibitions, creating a new public place in Leszno. The proposed new building respects the hierarchy of the quarter building, while being a background for the historic building.
The layout of the designed exhibition halls, based on a central staircase, allows the development of different touring paths, while ensuring adequate access control and security of the collections. This solution will also make it possible to change parts of the exhibition without closing the entire exhibition, as well as conveniently transport the exhibits to the conservation studios. The authors develop the theme of ceramics in contemporary architecture in an unpretentious way.
The competition work synthetically convinces as to the correctness of the solutions adopted in all areas strategic for the realization of the Museum. The Competition Jury unanimously appreciated the restraint and rationality of the solutions, which adequately respond to the needs of turbulent modern times.
