The second weekend of October will see the start of the Festival of Transformation, held this year under the theme "The climate is changing us." During the event, organized by the Copernicus Science Center, participants and invited guests will analyze various strategies for getting out of the climate crisis. The organizers assure that it is not their intention to frighten the impending disaster. The program focuses on the most effective methods of avoiding it.
Is the energy transition and other global efforts to solve the climate crisis also acultural transformation? Who are the climate deniers who are doing everything to slow down the fight against global warming? Invited scientists, artists and journalists will seek answers to these questions during the festival . The festival will be centered around eight main themes, these are: trust in science and sources of knowledge about climate change, carbon footprint, energy transition, electromobility and transportation changes, climate justice, geoengineering, rare metals, and climate protests and intergenerational dialogue.

The opening lecture of the 11th Festival of Transformation will be given by Prof. Naomi Oreskes, an American historian of science from Harvard University, whose research interests include climate denialism and trust in science. Recently, Prof. Oreskes' work became the inspiration for Joanna Rajkowska' s exhibition, available until recently at Zachęta, titled " The Climate of the World. "Rhizopolis" (we wrote about the exhibition on the portal). Last year, Prof. Oreskes' deliberations were the basis of the exhibition "The Age of the Half-light" at the Museum of Modern Art.

She will talk about the IPCC's latest findings on climate warming and its consequences. She will also present proposed solutions to the crisis. The third scheduled lecture by Guillaume Pitron will focus on rare resources, which the journalist will talk about in an environmental and geopolitical context.
demonstrations and panels
During the festival there will be no shortage of film screenings, workshops and panel discussions. The latter are scheduled in three rounds, and will be devoted to energy and culture, economics and values, and human audacity.
Thefull festival program can be found on the Copernicus Science Center website. All televised events, in turn, will be available on the organizer's YouTube channel.
