Museum of the Princes Lubomirski

The new museum in Wroclaw[info] is a contemporary urban palace, a majestic edifice with numerous openings that creates multidirectional connections with the surrounding space. Its structure refers to the rhythms of neighboring historical buildings and at the same time introduces a new quality to the development. The building, as emphasized by the architects, is characterized by openness, balanced proportions of glazing and free composition.

The design intention of the authors of the Polish Pavilion for EXPO 2020 was that both the foldable steel structure of the pavilion and the segmented prefabricated wooden panel facade would make it possible to transport the structure to Poland. After the EXPO, the pavilion will stand on the campus of the Bialystok University of Technology, where it will serve an educational function - a center of knowledge about wood.

2nd prize in the category Public, industrial and buildings: XYZ Apartments

The XYZ Apartments project in Szczyrk won second prize in the Public, Industrial Facilities and Buildings category. Three intimate apartment buildings - X, Y and Z, whose masses fit into the picturesque mountain landscape, will be built on a plot overlooking the Silesian Beskid, in the vicinity of a ski lift. The sloping roofs and wooden facade elements allude to typical local architecture.

We wanted to show that the small, friendly scale of the buildings would make it great to realize the functions of the building and at the same time emphasize the unique context of the place," says Ewelina Szeląg of the WXCA studio, co-author of the project.
