09 of September '24

Some people spend the night in wooden houses during holiday trips, others live in them all year round - and not just under the city. This time in the series "Domokrążcy" we will see the estate of wooden Finnish Houses Jazdów in Warsaw.

Initiated during the New Plan festival in Poznań, the series "Domokrążcy" has what we expect from a good series - engaging stories, colorful characters and beautiful interiors. The project is jointly organized by the SARP Poznań Branch, the Common Point Association, the Open Center and the Made in art Foundation. Each episode introduces viewers and viewers to the stories of unique interiors and their inhabitants.

wooden houses in the middle of the city

Although the wooden houses in Jazdów, the first housing development in postwar Warsaw, were supposed to last five years, they have been standing for almost eighty. In the beginning there were 90 of them, and about 30 have survived to this day. Some of the wooden Finnish Houses on the Jazdów Warsaw estate are still inhabited, while the rest house the headquarters of a number of NGOs, operating under the umbrella of the Open Jazdów Partnership. Antonina and Stefan Szczerbinski talk about the settlement's beginnings, its most important distinctive features and the changes that have taken place here over the years. In turn, you will learn about how non-governmental organizations breathed new life into the Jazdów houses from people associated with Otwarta Pracownia from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.
