Dominika Verešová

Dominika Verešová is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology, where she specializes in urban planning and spatial planning. She holds a master's degree from the same university and an engineering degree from the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia). She enriched her education with experience gained through the Erasmus program at the University of Maribor (Slovenia).

Since the beginning of her career, she has been actively involved in research and professional projects related to participatory urban planning and post-war reconstruction. Previously, she served as the leader of an expert group within the Ro3kvit_Urban Coalition for Ukraine, where she coordinated research on planning processes in Buča and Rivne, as well as research on participatory planning for Ukrainian renewal, the results of which are recorded in a handbook. She also worked at the Municipal Spatial Planning and Architecture Laboratory in Ostrava (Czech Republic) and the Metropolitan Institute in Bratislava (Slovakia), where she researched processes of revitalization of degraded areas.

Her scientific work deals with contemporary urban challenges, especially in the context of post-war urban reconstruction. She has presented her findings at numerous international conferences, such as the World Urban Forum and the AESOP Annual Congress. She has participated in internships at renowned institutions, including Beirut Urban Lab and Urban Lab Sarajevo, which allowed her to explore urban planning tools in different cultural and social contexts.

The recipient of numerous awards, including an ISOCARP Student Award and Visegrad Fund research grants, she actively collaborates with international organizations and universities, including Kyiv's Taras Shevchenko National University (Ukraine). Her doctoral dissertation is on the reconstruction of cities after war damage. The goal is to take into account contemporary urban ideas, trends and challenges in the reconstruction process and the special role of public participation.
