What does it mean to be an architect today? What are the conditions for practicing this profession? In the series "The Architect's Profession" we address these two questions to Polish architects, and illustrate their statements with unrealized office projects. In today's installment, our questions are answered by Michał Baryżewski and Zbigniew Reszka of the Arch-Deco studio.

1 What does it mean to be an architect today?
An architect is a renaissance man, balancing between being an artist, an engineer, a lawyer, a manager and a businessman. Every day he struggles to maintain a healthy balance between these fields of work. Design itself is becoming less and less.
2 What are the conditions for practicing as an architect?
Nowadays, more and more responsibilities outside of peripatetic tasks fall on the architect, so it is so important to find time to work on a piece of paper, with a pencil. Bureaucracy is growing uncontrollably, overwhelming.
Together with the Association of Polish Architects and the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, we are constantly fighting to raise the profile of the architectural profession.
