from the series "Modern office buildings - trends 2024"

Made of glass and aluminum, the facades of office buildings, shopping malls and many other buildings have already become part of the urban landscape for good. One of the leading manufacturers that provides systems for the implementation of the most technologically advanced buildings is ALUPROF. The offer of the Polish leader in aluminum systems from Bielsko-Biała meets all the requirements of energy-efficient and passive construction. A wide range of facade profiles is the answer to the growing market demand.

Facades of many modern buildings are extremely modern curtain walls made of aluminum profile systems. They allow the construction of glazed facades of service and public buildings. They are also used to make spatial structures and roof glazing that create a unique atmosphere and provide comfort for users, which is why they are increasingly used in modern single-family houses.

Aluminum facades

Systems of aluminum and glass facades, thanks to the great freedom of design, allow the realization of bold visions of designers. Particularly popular are mullion and transom facades. These are lightweight curtain walls that have great structural and functional possibilities and allow the use of various types of opening elements.

The main product in the ALUPROF group of mullion-transom facades is the MB-SR50N system, which has versions with increased thermal insulation MB-SR50N HI and MB-SR50N HI+. Its popularity is evidenced by numerous building realizations both in Poland and around the world. An interesting and technologically advanced construction is the MB-TT50 system. In it, the company used an innovative approach to the construction of profiles and accessories responsible for tightness and thermal insulation, as well as installation technology.

This thesis is confirmed by the realizations in which the MB-TT50 system was used - suffice it to mention Alchemia in Gdansk, a prestigious office building, which was certified at the highest Platinum level in the multi-criteria evaluation system for sustainable construction, in accordance with the international LEED standard," says Bożena Ryszka, Director of ALUPROF's Marketing and PR Department.

ALUPROF MB-TT50 and MB-SR50N HI+ mullion and transom façade systems are certified by the Institute of Passive Houses phi Darmstadt in the highest A+ class, which is why they are recommended for constructing large glazed facades in energy-efficient and passive buildings.

Another ALUPROF facade solution is the MB-SR60N system. Initially the basis for custom-designed solutions for the most demanding projects, such as the Pomeranian Technology Park in Gdynia, the Hilton Hotel in Kyiv, and the American 61 Ninth Avenue (MB-SR60NY), it also has its variant in the form of advanced roof solutions, used in the Galeria Katowicka shopping mall, among others.

Design without limits

Today's post-and-beam system solutions allow architects to be bold and daring in design. The most respected architectural offices very often base the construction of building facades precisely on ALUPROF systems. The comprehensiveness of the available solutions and readiness to adapt the product to the customer's expectations drive the company's development and open up further possibilities in design.

A basic and very important feature of mullion and transom systems is the ability to create walls of different shapes. Thanks to a large range of angular solutions, facades deviated from the vertical by ±10° and a wide spectrum of spatial solutions can be created. Experts from our team have developed innovative solutions in these systems. The "mullion-transom" connection with high load-bearing capacity allows glazing weights of up to 1,100 kg. We've also introduced a solution to reduce transom deflection for very large glazings," describes Michal Tomaszewski, ALUPROF's Facility Sales Director.

ALUPROF's latest solution for mullion and transom systems is the MB-MT50N facade. It was designed based on Cradle to Cradle certification guidelines. With a construction width of 50 mm, the system has the advantages of ALUPROF's existing mullion and transom systems with even greater design possibilities and better technical performance. The solutions used in the new facade facilitate prefabrication and speed up the installation of the structure on site. The system is available in two thermal versions: the standard version with ABS/TPE insulator and the SI version with PET/PE insulator, which allows for very low thermal transmittance of the facade. The Uf parameter of 0.55 W/(m²K) and above proves that the MB-MT50N system meets the relevant requirements and allowed it to be certified by the Institute of Passive Houses phi Darmstadt in the highest class A+.

A new element facade has also appeared in Aluprof's offer, which is the result of the extensive experience Aluprof's designers have gathered in the realization of high-rise buildings in the United States, such as New York's 278-meter-high The Greenwich, Brooklyn Navy Yard, LIC Marriott, and Sky View Parc apartment buildings. The first projects to use the new MB-SE65 system are Global Office Park in Katowice and Sky Office in Vilnius. The product was developed for the construction and construction of lightweight curtain walls of the suspended type. The wall's structure consists of modules that are made entirely at the production plant, and this means a great many advantages. Among them, it is worth mentioning the high quality of the manufactured elements, as they are created under optimal conditions, where the contractor has full control over the entire process. The execution of such a facade is very fast and allows to dispense with the installation of scaffolding on the site.

Safety and aesthetics

ALUPROF aluminum facades can also provide an effective barrier against the spread of fire. MB-SR50N EI and MB-SR50N EI EFEKT mullion and transom facades are designed to make lightweight fire protection and filling walls. Such facades do not visually differ from standard solutions and do not disturb the facade design. These systems are available in fire resistance classes EI 30 or EI 60.

The large selection of solutions, durability, visual diversity of the facade and the possibility of adapting its construction to the individual requirements of the project are features that make aluminum and glass systems a universal, versatile and widely used solution that meets many requirements of modern architecture.
