In a clearing surrounded by forest stand several wooden houses. They are characterized by large windows and terraces through which one enters. On the terrace you can spend many summer hours in the company of family and friends. A sail is stretched overhead and lamps hang, casting a warm light. Such a picture - once seen - will not leave your mind for a long time.
The owners of Szumilas Cottages are Magda and Krzysiek. Magda's care for guests is in her blood - her family used to run a vacation center. Krzysiek is an avid traveler and adrenaline seeker. In Lubiatowo they found their place - among some of the most beautiful beaches in Poland and forests full of mushrooms and bicycle paths.
The interiors of the house were designed with great attention to detail. The authors are Marta and Michal Rac from Raca Architekci, who are also responsible for designing some of the furniture. Magda and Krzysiek's main concern was that the design of the cottages should be elegant, functional, but also cozy.

The designer of the building is Roman Kowalewski of the Polanz Dom studio. The cottages are two-story with a total area of 44 square meters. On the first floor is the living area - a living room with a kitchenette and a bathroom. On the second floor are bedrooms - one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. This allows the house to accommodate four people (the fifth can use the sofa bed in the living room!). Magda and Krzysiek wanted the houses to fit in with their surroundings - hence the wooden facade covering them and the natural colors in the interiors.
Basia Hyjek: How did your adventure begin?
Magda and Krzysiek: Our adventure began with a piece of land in the seaside village of Lubiatowo, which was acquired much earlier. When we created the vision for Szumilas, we already had experience in the hotel industry. Krzysztof was the owner of a hostel for 7 years, while Magda has always been involved in tourism - her grandmother and parents worked in a tourist office and then ran their own resorts.
Basia: What was particularly important to you in creating this place?
Magda and Krzysiek: In search of inspiration, we traveled a lot, looked at Scandinavian architecture, browsed through hundreds of photos and albums, visited fairs. Above all, we love design, which manifests itself in the fact that Magda creates a private map of design hotels around the world (already visited or with the intention of visiting them - these are very valuable trips!), and Krzysiek browses through albums and websites about architecture and interiors and dreams of owning a set of chairs from Carl Hansen :)

Basia: What was particularly important to you in creating this place? How do you want your guests to feel here?
Magda and Krzysiek: In creating our facility, we focused on maximum simplicity, while at the same time on the high quality of materials used (including plywood, marble, Italian and Portuguese tiles) and details that create a unique atmosphere of the place (such as specially designed furniture). We also opted for a natural color scheme, consistent with the surroundings (green, wood, whites, grays).
Plus: on the shelves albums about architecture, photography, interiors, a beautiful Marshall speaker, natural cosmetics. And no TV or WIFI. All this is to make our guests relax as much as possible from the urban everyday life, while experiencing a bit of luxury. Our offer is mainly aimed at families, although we also host many couples. Each Guest receives one of six houses, where they can cook, read, spend time on the terrace or by the blazing fireplace. And although the area is only 44m², the houses are extremely functional and spacious.
