author's description
"When you don't know what to believe in, believe in chemistry. Believe in science. Through it you will return to man." - Tadeusz Borowski, "Matura na Targowej".
The volume was located at the junction of a birch and spruce forest. The juxtaposition of two such contrasting elements, as well as the above quote, showing the fusion of man, his scientific and technical achievements with nature, were the main inspirations for the project. In order to minimally interfere with the terrain, the form of the volume fits in with the surrounding trees. Undivided by walls, the elliptical interior is a constantly changing space. Delving deeper into the building, one enters increasingly intimate zones. It culminates in an inner courtyard, which, while allowing contact with nature, at the same time shields us from the world with translucent walls.
Being made of a two-layer plastic membrane that seals out the air, they also provide thermal insulation. The high-tech walls are a nod to science and harmonize with the natural wood used for the mullion structure, as well as elements of the building's interior.
