The international "Roca One Day Design Challenge" competition is returning to Poland, offering young designers/developers and architects/architects the opportunity to showcase their skills. The event will take place on November 28, 2024 at the University of Warsaw Library, in a hybrid format (stationary and online), and participants will have just one day to create innovative solutions related to the bathroom space.

The "Roca One Day Design Challenge" competition was launched in 2012 by Roca, a leader in the bathroom sector. Since then, successive editions of the project have engaged the community of young designers around the world in search of original and innovative, yet simple solutions for bathroom spaces, both private and public.

The honorary patronage of the "Roca One Day Design Challenge" is held by the Association of Polish Architects SARP.

purpose

The purpose of the competition is to promote creativity, innovation and rapid design skills among students/graduates and young professionals/professionals. The competition task will be related to a selected issue related to bathroom space, and detailed guidelines will be announced on the day of the event. As part of the competition, those participating will get an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, speed and design skills under time pressure.

terms and conditions

The competition is open to individuals with Polish or Ukrainian citizenship, students/graduates and young designers/developers who are under 30 years of age. Participants will be able to complete the task on-site or remotely, working individually or in teams of two.

prizes

  • 1st place - 3,000 euros;
  • II place - 2,000 euros³;
  • Third place - 1,000 euros;

jury

Competition projects will be judged by a jury of professionals and personalities from the world of architecture and design:

  • Dr. Karolina Janczy - painter and designer of interiors, theatrical costumes and applied art, set designer and visual artist, lecturer at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow,
  • Tomasz Pydo - product designer, co-founder of the inderdisciplinary design studio KABO & PYDO repeatedly awarded with prestigious prizes, including Red Dot, IF Design and Dobry Wzór,
  • Gosia Rygalik - designer, active in the fields of education and culture, co-founder of the Rygalik Studio, president of the Sobole Foundation, co-founder of the Design Nature community and the creative campus in Sobole,
  • Dr. Maciej Stefanski - industrial design designer, lecturer at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, co-leader of the Handsome design studio,
  • Bibianna Stein-Ostaszewska - interior designer, co-founder of the Association of Interior Designers, currently a member of the SAW Program Council, leading her own studio Bibi Space,
  • Joanna Dec-Galuk - Marketing Director of Roca Polska

On the day of the competition, November 28, the male and female participants will be tasked with creating designs based on a theme announced at 9:30 a.m. at the event site, and then developing and submitting them on the same day by 4 p.m. via the website.

The list of winners and runners-up will be announced at 8 p.m. on November 28 at the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) building.
