XILO glass lamp collection - craftsmanship and technological precision
According to the philosophy of the LABRA brand, the lamps are to fit neutrally into the interior design regardless of the chosen stylistic convention. This is achieved by reducing luminaire elements to the bare minimum. Such an idea also guided the projects prepared in cooperation with Maciej Karpiak, in which decorative or functional aspects do not contradict the minimalist discipline. XILO luminaires combine craftsmanship with a soothing atmosphere created by light, in which color or form build a mood of relaxation, tranquility, relaxation.
Work on the XILO lamps took many months. They required both above-average craftsmanship skills and constant improvement of technological solutions and the subsequent use of the product. The author of the project is Maciej Karpiak - a designer and constructor - who explores the qualities of materials, emphasizing their quality, processability and precision of processing. And all this in the spirit of ecology and zero waste. The designer pays special attention to the quality of the components, as well as the precision of each, even the smallest detail. All paired with thoughtful design and full functionality.
XILO luminaires are based on the classic production of blown glass at the Krosno Glassworks and Piensk Glassworks-Lusatia.
Thanks to the craftsmanship technique used, no two XILO luminaires are exactly alike. The work requires strength, as well as great craftsmanship due to the heavy weight of the glass and the need to maintain a uniform thickness of the lampshade. In contrast, precision-turned rings and aluminum bases provide a modern element of repeatability. On average, 2-3 blown lampshades out of 10 do not meet the highest requirements and cannot go on sale. The uniqueness of craftsmanship in XILO lamps can be seen in details such as possible fladers, which are tiny air bubbles naturally formed during hand-blowing. The aluminum bases, on the other hand, precisely crafted with CNC machining machines, provide a modern element of repeatability.
The XILO collection features blown tinted glass shades and three-layer opal glass in distinctive futuristic shapes. Sources of light hidden behind apertures gently diffuse the light. The rich collection of XILO lamps includes both standing and hanging models. The collection includes lampshades made of colored glass (made at the Krosno Glassworks) and three-layer opal glass (Piensk Glassworks-Lusatia) in elongated, rounded shapes. This makes them a great alternative to spherical lamps. Tasteful colors interestingly enrich, for example, monochromatic arrangements in modern style, also acting as intriguing light sculptures. Glass domes, which cover the light sources, gently disperse them.
The light sources used in XILO lamps are modern, technologically advanced powerLEDs, which in terms of functionality and longevity are far superior to traditional incandescent bulbs used in decorative lamps. The available light colors are in the range from 2700 to 4000 K, which allows you to choose the right variant for different types of interiors and their needs. In addition, in part of the collection it is possible to adjust the intensity using a mobile app (Casambi system with Bluetooth Low Energy technology). With dimming, the color temperature of the light decreases. In this way it is possible to conveniently change and create the mood in the room. XILO lamps can be integrated into broader smart home electronic control systems (DALI interface).
