AGE360 skyscraper,
design: Triptyque, Architects Office
AGE360 is an architecturalproject by Triptyque and Architects Office that introduces an innovative typology of residential spaces. Realized in Curitiba, Brazil, it combines private apartments with common areas dedicated to physical activities, meditation and healthcare. The concept was inspired by ancient gymnasiums, resulting in a balanced architectural model that integrates the needs of body, mind and community. Distinguished by its sleek silhouette and innovative design approach, the tower was awarded the prestigious Wellness designation as the first building in Brazil, as well as Fitwel and Green Building Council certifications and the 2022 Rethinking the Future award.

project concept and philosophy
The basis of AGE360 is the idea of transforming the apartment from a traditional shelter into a space that supports the holistic development of its inhabitants. Olivier Raffaëlli, co-founder of Triptyque, emphasizes that incorporating collective sports functions into a residential building goes beyond simply improving the comfort of life. The idea is to create an environment that actively supports the body and mind, especially at a time when the virtualization of the world is accelerating, distancing people from physical activity. As a result, the project involves a harmonious balance between individual needs and community life, which is reflected in the spatial layout of the tower.

In practice, this means integrating sports facilities, such as gymnasiums and yoga spaces, with areas for relaxation and meditation. In addition, the building includes care centers to support residents' health. These types of solutions respond to the modern challenges of urbanization, where access to such amenities within a residence is becoming increasingly desirable. The designers aimed to create an ecosystem where the apartment becomes more than just a living space - it is a place that stimulates development and social interaction.

architectural structure and form
The AGE360 tower is distinguished by its structure based on a load-bearing façade, which eliminates the need for internal support elements. This makes the interior layout fully flexible and reversible, allowing the space to adapt to the changing needs of residents. The structural grid has been intentionally interrupted at key locations, creating extensive common spaces for sports and wellness. Such a treatment not only increases the functionality of the building, but also gives it a unique visual character.

The tower's form is slender and tapers toward the top. Its nearly triangular profile was designed with the city's urban constraints in mind, while also contributing to the stability of the structure by reducing wind loads on the upper floors. At its base, the building opens up to its surroundings, creating a double interaction with the city: at ground level it connects to the urban fabric, while the area around the tower is filled with dense native vegetation, integrating nature with the urban context.

façade and materials
The AGE360 facade is characterized by a minimalist approach. It consists of a regular grid of geometric modules. The rawness of the concrete contrasts with the large glazings that open the interiors to panoramic views of Curitiba. The glazed facades not only bring light into the rooms, but also reinforce the residents' connection to the outdoors, one of the key objectives of the project. Guillaume Sibaud, co-founder of the office, points to the concept of "thick facades"- facades that act as protection from the sun, while also being landscaped, such as through terraces or high-rise gardens. AGE360 prominently features open spaces on the facade that can serve as terraces for residents, introducing greenery into the urban landscape. The use of concrete is complemented by metal elements, visible, for example, in the balustrades, which gives the building a lightness and emphasizes its contemporary character.

functionality and urban context
AGE360 was designed to maximize the use of available space in densely built-up Curitiba. Its slender silhouette stands out against standard buildings, becoming a new landmark in the city's skyline. The architects were guided by functionality, but also ethical integration with the urban and natural context. The building offers both private apartments and communal spaces, making it a mixed-function building aimed at those seeking a modern lifestyle.
innovation and construction challenges
The implementation of the AGE360 project required an advanced engineering approach. The tapering structure and lack of internal supports posed stability challenges for the designers, especially in terms of wind forces. The asymmetry of the façade and irregular indentations in the structural grid further complicated the construction process, likely necessitating the use of modern technologies such as BIM modeling. These solutions allowed for precise planning of the structure and ensuring its safety. The project's innovation is also reflected in its sustainability. Fitwel and Green Building Council certifications confirm that AGE360 meets high environmental and health standards. The Wellness title, meanwhile, underscores the pioneering approach to designing spaces that support psychosocial well-being, which sets the tower apart from other Brazilian developments.

significance in the architectural landscape
AGE360 is an example of architecture that combines functionality with bold form. Its slender silhouette and rhythmic facade give it a sculptural character, making it an important part of Curitiba's landscape. The designers reduced the architecture to its basic elements - structure, light and space - allowing them to focus on the user experience. The result is a building that not only meets practical needs, but also inspires reflection on the role of architecture in the modern world. The tower redefines the concept of housing, offering a model that can become a benchmark for future developments.
