City, architecture, capitalism
The city is a very complex organism in which various forces and interest groups operate, it is a field of many tensions and negotiations. It is a common good and resource - us, the residents, although we observe in it some stakeholder groups that make money on the city. We agree to it in a kind of socio-economic contract, and at the same time, through the correction of the law, we continue to negotiate changes that seek to protect the common good and interest. The results are sometimes mixed.
In the issue we also ask the new authorities of SARP about the role of the Association in improving the professional condition of architects. What can be done so that the position of architects in the investment process is higher, and thus the quality of emerging investments improves?
We invite you to read the September issue of A&B - take a look at capitalism in the city and its impact on architecture and the quality of space.
The issue was created in cooperation with the participants of the seminar "Capitalist City", conducted by Prof. Rafał Matyja at the Cracow University of Economics in the 2023/2024 academic year.
