A space for books
To say that books play a huge role in culture is like saying nothing. A book is a carrier of human thoughts that exists outside of time. And this is the greatest thing about it. Libraries, as spaces for books, play a similarly cultural role in local communities. But they are also a place for meetings, organizing events, and finally simply a reading or lending library.
In Poland, libraries have been doing better and better in recent years. All thanks to programs that support their development and accessibility, such as, among others, the already famous Library Development Program for small towns, implemented between 2009 and 2015 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. There is also the long-standing government program Library+, run with funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage by the Book Institute, which funds renovations and the purchase of library equipment.
These supportive measures can already be seen in the landscape of Polish cities. And this is very gratifying, although there is still much to be done. Similar programs, existing in Scandinavia or other European countries, have contributed to the promotion of reading. Such activities pay off very well for all of us. And this is what we all wish for ourselves!
By the way, we wish our Readers, Contributors and Friends a beautiful Christmas, a happy New Year and... many inspiring and dream books under the Christmas tree.
