Smart homes, are not just a product for wealthy individuals. The development of technology has made Smart Home systems increasingly popular and accessible. Therefore, when the cost of the system does not exceed 1% of the total construction cost, it should not be a financial barrier, but rather a lack of awareness among users and installers. The possibilities and advantages of using Smart Home and Smart Panel will be presented by one of Poland's leading designers and manufacturers of building automation system.
SMART HOME GRENTON
Developed since 2010, the Smart Home Grenton system is characterized by extensive functionality and stability of system operation. It can be developed in both wired and wireless (Z-Wave) topologies. We offer DIN-rail mounted modules, as well as flush-mounted modules (wired and wireless). We can also run the system as a combination of wired and wireless modules.
The company offers basic modules that use building automation systems, namely relay and dimmable output modules. In addition, installers are provided with modules for binary inputs, 0-10V inputs/outputs and 1W inputs, which allow connection of various types of sensors, among others. Grenton also offers dedicated modules for controlling roller blinds and RGB LED lamps.
Particularly noteworthy is the extensive range of modules that integrate the Grenton system with other systems. The offer includes modules that allow communication over MODBUS and HTTP protocols. The manufacturer offers the GATE ALARM module, which allows two-way communication with the SATEL system.
The launch of the Smart Home system involves performing a Smart installation, followed by proper system configuration. The Smart Home system is customized according to individual user needs. Installers are provided with Object Manager software, which is a tool that allows detailed configuration of the system. Implementation of the basic functions of the Smart Home system is extremely fast, simple and intuitive. Object Manager has extensive functions, allowing the implementation of the most advanced control algorithms.
An element not to be missed in the Smart Home system is an application for your phone or tablet. Interfaces have been prepared to control the home for Android, as well as iOS. In a very quick way, you can customize the interface for each household member separately.
SMART PANEL
Smart Home Grenton system communicates with users through apps and interfaces. These can be classic switches, glass Touch Panels and the latest solution, which is the Smart Panel.
The Smart Panel is a touch control panel equipped with 4 buttons and an OLED display. In addition, the panel features sensors: light intensity, temperature, gesture and proximity. All this is housed in an extremely aesthetically pleasing 80x80mm enclosure, which is covered with 4mm thick tempered glass on the outside. The Smart Panel is mounted in a classic electrical box and requires a communication bus (e.g. UTP/FTP).
The basic configuration of the Smart Panel allows you to program each button individually. In addition, the panel detects the time a button is pressed and makes the function performed dependent on it, e.g. a short press on a button turns a lamp on/off, while a longer hold on the same button allows the lamp to dim or brighten smoothly. The Smart Panel distinguishes between four different button press times, and can also detect double or triple clicks.
Thanks to the display it has, we can display an icon next to each button, symbolizing the function. The button has the ability to operate in both monostable and bistable button mode. In the case of the latter, the icon can also change, depending on whether the output device is on or off.
The display can operate in two modes - buttons and freedraw. In buttons mode, it is divided into 4 areas, which display the icons of each button. The freedraw mode turns the display into a single screen with a resolution of 127x63, where we can display lettering, numbers and draw lines.
Thanks to full integration with the Grenton Smart Home system, the display can display any values, such as temperatures from other rooms, and thanks to the GATE HTTP module, we can display the forecast temperature by downloading these values from the Internet. Stock market indexes can also appear on our display.
The Smart Panel's built-in gesture sensor detects 4 gestures: up, down, left and right. A command can be directly assigned to each of these gestures with a command. In addition, each execution of a gesture can take us to the next "page" of the Smart Panel. This means, in practice, that on one page we can have 4 buttons with which we control four independent light sources. After making a gesture, we move to the other page, where we can control the blinds in the room, and so on. This gives great opportunities for installers to customize the system to meet the needs of the householders. From one place they can control all the areas of their choice. A panel that has 4 buttons becomes an 8, 12 or more key panel.
ELEVATOR AWAITS, SEE YOU PIOTR
The Smart Panel is an integral part of the Grenton Smart Home system. It allows you to use all the capabilities of the system. The display can show icons, but also text and messages. Thanks to the extensive integration of the Smart Home Grenton system, we can, for example, order an elevator from the Panel, and its arrival will be communicated on the Smart Panel display. Such a solution was implemented in one of the apartment buildings, which was made based on the Grenton system.
Retrofitting Grenton's Smart Home system with Beacons additionally, the system will recognize that a specific person is leaving the house and bid him/her farewell - "The elevator is waiting, see you Peter."
Smart Panel is a huge leap in the technologies implementing Smart Home systems. Its advantages were recognized at BUDMA 2018, where it won the Gold Medal.
The tool is characterized by a very high degree of flexibility and the possibility of changing the configuration. The previously described pages can be freely changed in the future, giving them completely different functions.
