Ventilation heat pump QE - is a phenomenal solution from Swedish manufacturer QVANTUM offering the possibility of ventilation of rooms with heat recovery (recuperation), heating ofdomestic hot water and heating and cooling of the buildingusing surface systems or fan coils. All this encapsulated in a single unit, in the form of a compact air handling unit occupying less than 0.4 m² of floor space, which is particularly important in buildings with small living areas.

With the QE ventilation pump , there is no need to install an outdoor unit, so you don't have to worry about noise, condensate drainage or distance from your neighbor's lot. Installation becomes easier and faster, and the investor gains additional space outside the building. It is worth mentioning that the QE heat pump does not require an additional separate hot water tank, and the process of preparing domestic hot water itself is hygienic - the water is heated by flow through a plate heat exchanger built into the device (this reduces the possibility of Legionella bacteria). The QE heat pump, offered in two power variants of 4 kW and 6 kW, is dedicated to energy-efficient construction, especially modular, frame and prefabricated construction.

Tasks and functions

The primary task of the QE heat pump is to ensure adequate ventilation of the rooms in the building and to recover energy to meet the needs of heating the building and providing hot water comfort. The source of energy is the ventilation air exhausted from the building (used air) containing a large amount of energy accumulated in the building, which in the case of classical gravity ventilation is a loss that we must supplement with a standard heat source. In a nutshell, the QE pump recovers and reuses the energy of the used air using a cooling module with a continuously variable inverter compressor.

Ventilation solution tailored to individual preferences

The QE heat pump can operate in two variants of building ventilation. The first basic variant is the intake of used air from the so-called dirty rooms (kitchen, bathroom, toilet, vestibule). This creates a slight negative pressure in the building, which causes fresh air to be drawn in through wall or window ventilators installed in the other rooms. With this solution, we get full ventilation of all rooms just as in the case of gravity ventilation, with the difference that along the way we recover energy from the air for reuse. (Fig. 1)

Variant two assumes the implementation of full mechanical exhaust and ventilation in the building. Such a solution requires an additional QS module, which is equipped with an additional supply fan. Before the fresh air enters the rooms, it is preheated by a hydraulic heater built into the module, which for heating uses the energy from the central heating system previously recovered from the exhaust air. Thermal battery - a step into the future in energy storage (flexready)

The energy recovered from ventilation air is accumulated in the unit's 175-liter accumulation tank, which we can treat as a thermal battery and use for DHW heating and central heating. The battery itself also acts as energy storage in the flexible energy market. This function relies on the cooperation of the heat pump automation with dynamic tariffs in the power grid. Using a protocol, the API reacts to changes in electricity prices and accumulates thermal energy (the battery can be heated up to 90 degrees Celsius) during periods of low energy prices or when there is a surplus of energy, to then use this energy during peak periods when the price of electricity is much higher. This solution significantly improves the economics of the device and significantly reduces operating costs.

Ease of operation from anywhere in the world

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the automation of the device is equipped with WiFi and Bluetooth as standard, thanks to which it has control and service care via the Internet. The operation of the unit itself is possible from a mobile app or a color touch screen on the heat pump housing. This form of control allows access to basic as well as advanced functions of the device from almost anywhere on earth.

Ideal solutions do exist, however...

In summary, heat pumps of the QE series are the ideal solution for houses and apartments, where every square inch is at a premium, and the user expects the highest comfort of ventilation, heating, cooling and hot water at low operating costs.
