LOWER ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Replacing the lighting system results in a reduction of energy demand. A 1075m² office will serve as an example. 357 T5 fluorescent fixtures were replaced with 257 LED fixtures, reducing their number by nearly 30%. The power of the system dropped by 2.5 times, and the annual energy savings are more than 50 kWh, a 59% reduction in consumption. The results presented here are for the least complicated retrofit process. By expanding the lighting design to include a control system, energy consumption in this office can be reduced by as much as 73%. (Note: the presented calculation was carried out based on specific conditions: the client's requirements and the use of the illuminated area. A separate lighting audit should be conducted for each facility, and savings values may vary. Depending on the level of modernization, complexity of the control system, use, etc., lighting modernization can generate savings in the range of 45% - 85%).

RISING ENERGY PRICES - AN ARGUMENT FOR MODERNIZING LIGHTING
During the pandemic, the average quarterly price of electricity increased 2.5 times (comparison 3Q2019 vs 3Q2022). Thus, the burden on industrial end-users has doubled, and is projected to continue to grow. A survey conducted in mid-2021 shows that 60% of the companies surveyed are pursuing a sustainability program by investing in technology. According to them, adopting sustainability initiatives provides practical benefits, for example: reduced energy consumption. As many as 35% undertook new investment activities in Q1 and Q2 of 2021. Unfavorable changes in energy prices in 2022 increased the percentage of new technology initiatives.

QUICK RETURN ON INVESTMENT
A twofold increase in energy prices (Q3 2022 y/y) results in lowering electricity bills by reducing consumption, which translates into a shorter payback period for investments in lighting upgrades. Further price increase forecasts encourage generating savings in this way. The analysis shows that the investment will pay for itself after 27 months, assuming a constant energy price of 0.615zl/kWh. In comparison, this period is shortened by 9 months compared to the analysis using energy costs (0.472zl/kWh) from earlier in Q1 2022. Based on energy price forecasts for Q1 2023, the estimated payback period is shortened by another 8 months to 19 months.

REDUCTION OF CO2 EMISSIONS
The generation of electricity and its subsequent use are associated with greenhouse gas emissions. Retrofitting lighting allows for a reduction in CO² emissions. In the case under consideration, during the first year of operation of an office equipped with PXF Lighting luminaires, carbon dioxide emissions will be lower by more than 37 tons.
