Adam Koniszewski, Investment Director at STIEBEL ELTRON Poland, speaks about heat pumps.
Poland and Europe are facing the challenge of energy transition, and one of its key elements is the replacement of heating sources. Heat pumps are an effective and efficient solution, the dissemination of which can contribute to the achievement of the desired climate goals associated with the European Green Deal. Therefore, users of these devices should not be referred to as people who are "nailed to heat pumps." - such a phrase was used in a publication of one of the widely read and opinionated portals. It puts in a bad light all heat pump manufacturers, including those acting in accordance with the recommendations of the Polish Organization for the Development of Heat Pump Technology (PORT PC), who in Poland account for the vast majority of the market. The problem is dishonest suppliers, not the solution itself. Heat pump technology can operate effectively in residential buildings, public facilities, as well as businesses, generating savings for users while reducing emissions. The only condition is that the system is properly designed, installed, and that care is taken for its regular maintenance.
The stage of designing the system, i.e. determining the real thermal needs of a given building and selecting equipment that will be able to provide it, is a key element for the success of the entire investment. Incorrectly selected equipment can cause many problems, including the increase in heating costs described in the media. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and thus the lowest operating costs, which are also measured by the amount of energy bills, it is necessary to have solutions tailored to the specific facility and the needs of the investor. This often requires advanced knowledge, so expert assistance in the design of the installation, technical and installation support and service security are advisable. As with any investment, in order to achieve the desired effect, it must be approached responsibly. There are dozens of training centers in Poland, where experienced specialist-installers have the opportunity to learn about heat pump technology. In this way, suppliers ensure a high level of service to consumers. For responsible manufacturers, the measure of success is customer satisfaction, which translates into trust in the brand. This is the foundation of functioning in business, including in our industry. Stiebel Eltron has also launched such centers - most recently in Wroclaw. They are available for people planning to change their heating source. Equipped with detailed knowledge, experts will introduce the technology and nuances that will help those interested in planning and implementing the investment.
Once again, I emphasize that the use of phrases such as those to which I refer is for honest manufacturers, and consequently for the entire Polish economy and energy sector, the proverbial log thrown underfoot. Thoughtful and properly designed installation of a heat pump is the direction we advise our customers and at the same time a guarantee that the installation will bring both economic and environmental benefits.
