From the series „Facade and wall materials – trends 2023”
Ruukki façade cladding meets all the needs of modern architecture, meeting technical, aesthetic and economic design objectives. Ruukki coffers, panels and profiles create unlimited design possibilities for facades of industrial, office, commercial or public buildings. Metal cladding can be used on the exterior and interior of buildings.
Based on high-quality steel, the facade solutions are durable, easy to install and sustainable, as they can be recycled and reused at the end of their life cycle. These are products that will work well in newly constructed buildings, but also in revitalization projects where high flexibility and versatility of solutions are important.
Freedom of design
In designing facades with Ruukki products, the only limit is your imagination. A wide range of products, sizes, colors, textures, finishing and installation options make it possible to realize the most original ideas. The effect is also greatly influenced by the cladding material used — depending on the designer's vision, it can be organic-coated steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum or the natural Cor-Ten® steel that is well known in the architectural world.

Most Ruukki products can be delivered with factory-made perforation, the degree and pattern of which is determined by individual design. Perforated cladding is an excellent base for LED backlighting, which further distinguishes the building and creates a visual identity element for the facility. The degree of perforation depends on the type of product and can reach up to 40% in the case of Ruukki® Design profiles.

Ruukki's production capabilities allow for customized facade projects. Ruukki's technical experts work with architects to ensure the architectural, technical and economic feasibility of the project from the outset. Facades with unusual shapes and surfaces definitely stand out from their surroundings, catching the eye and evoking emotions.

Durability and safety
All Ruukki cladding products have an ITB Technical Assessment for the cladding not to fall off the facade for 120 minutes in case of fire (par. 225 WT). This is a guarantee of fire safety that should be taken into account when designing facades. The use of GreenCoat® Hiarc or GreenCoat® Hiarc Max organic-coated steel on the exterior significantly increases the life of the facade, reducing the need for maintenance. Ruukki products can be covered by technical warranties of up to 50 years and aesthetic warranties of up to 25 years (depending on the corrosiveness of the atmosphere).

Ruukki's façade cladding also uses innovative solutions that result in greater durability and lower maintenance costs. An example is Ruukki® Primo panels made of aluminum composite. They are distinguished not only by their size — in the case of Primo Skyline 1000, a single panel can measure 6200×1900 mm — but also by innovative beveled edges in the joints. This solution was recently covered by a patent. The innovative design of the slanted joints prevents water and dirt from accumulating in the joints, which have a negative impact on the condition of the facade.

Sustainable construction
Steel is an obvious choice when it comes to life cycle and sustainability issues. It is one of the few materials that can be 100% recycled and does not lose its original properties in the process. The lightweight steel cladding is easy to transport, assemble and disassemble.
When it comes to environmental impact, the cladding material of choice is Cor-Ten® steel. This distinctive, raw steel requires no surface treatment or protection during production or maintenance during operation. Cor-Ten® ages naturally, covering itself with a patina when exposed to varying dry and wet weather conditions. Liberta coffers, façade laths and Design profiles are manufactured from Cor-Ten® steel at Ruukki. In many custom projects, Cor-Ten® flat plate is chosen.

Environmental product declarations are available for Ruukki facade cladding. The greenhouse effect potential (GWP) is given with each product on Ruukki's website.
Ruukki's production capabilities and design support allow even the most daring architectural concepts to be realized. Greatly facilitating the daily work of designers are Ruukki's online design tools — complete BIM libraries for AutoDesk Revit and ArchiCAD environments, proprietary calculation programs or a facade visualizer — available for download from Ruukki's website.
