The attic, despite being a challenging space due to the bevels, frequent ceiling beams and specific usable space, have their own unique charm. Mainly due to the views framed by the skylights, and consequently the sun streaming through them. In the attic you can create a unique and atmospheric interior.
roman blinds
The sun peeking into the attic from above is one of the assets of such a space. However, do we know how to effectively protect ourselves from it? The optimal design solution for roof windows are all kinds of roller blinds. The Roman model will certainly find its way into a traditional attic, thanks to its decorativeness combined with reliable functionality. A single mechanism for Roman blinds designed for roof windows is a system based on a mechanism with an open cassette. Experts advise that it should be installed about 20 cm above the recess of the roof window, while its width should be larger than it by about 10 cm. The main elements that allow the fabric to work and support it on the sloping roof slope are aluminum guides and sliders with hooks. In this system we can use a manual chain drive with a special tensioner holding the chain to the roof slope.
The variety guarantees the selection of a solution tailored to our needs

Yet another solution is an electric system, dedicated especially to windows located high up without the possibility to control the roller blinds from the floor level, which is perfect for smart buildings. A novelty is the use of electric drives powered by an attached battery. Thanks to this, we don't have to worry about supplying electricity to power the motor, and we can install a roller shutter with an electric drive on any roof window. Rest assured about the technical side of the arrangement, the variety of which guarantees the selection of a solution tailored to our needs, we can move on to the most pleasant - at least for aesthetes - stage. A homely grid, traditional floral motifs or a uniform color pattern - materials to choose from.
fabric roller blinds
If a modern or even minimalist design is closer to your heart, consider the second option - fabric roller blinds. Roller blinds in aluminum cassettes with side guides fit most roof windows available on the market. The fabric rolled up on the winding tube is hidden in the top cassette, while the side guides prevent sunlight from getting between the edge of the window and the edge of the fabric. This is important for a room that naturally tends to heat up faster than those located on lower floors. The roller blind is equipped with a spring mechanism located inside the winding tube, thanks to which the fabric remains taut, which prevents it from falling.
Fabric roller blinds cannot be denied their usefulness, also when it comes to the use of fabric properties

There is no denying the usefulness of fabric roller blinds, also when it comes to the use of fabric properties. In roller blinds for roof windows we can use the whole range of fabrics, and for attics especially recommended are transparent fabrics with a special coating. These are light-transparent fabrics, covered on the outside with a special metallic coating, the purpose of which is to reflect the sun's rays, thus preventing overheating of rooms. The second type worth recommending are undersized fabrics that do not let the light through. They are very popular due to their ability to significantly reduce the access of light to the room.
A combination of the two types described above are fabrics impermeable to light and additionally covered with a metallic layer that reflects the sun's rays. Perhaps the least practical solution in this combination, but irreplaceable for lovers of tradition who can not imagine living in a place that is not cozy. In the attic we can also use curtains and drapes, remembering that mounted on the slope windows are governed by their own rules. First of all, we must remember to mount them not only on the curtain rod above the window, but also on the one mounted below the window at the end of the curtain or in the middle if it reaches the floor. This is done so that the fabric does not stand out from the wall, which would be neither convenient nor aesthetically pleasing. With this combination, the fabric will adhere to the wall, but with the ability to uncover and cover the window.
The advantage, of course, is the unlimited range of curtain and curtain fabrics available, thanks to which we will take care of the appropriate character of our interior under the bevels

In addition, it is worth knowing that curtains are also made of light-impermeable fabrics, the left side of which is covered with a coating that prevents the room from heating up. The advantage, of course, is the unlimited range of curtain and curtain fabrics available, thanks to which - as in the case of Roman blinds - we will take care of the appropriate character of our interior under the slants. Let's also add that all of the above solutions will also work great for attic windows, which are not located on the slants, but on the walls between them, and are also exposed to a lot of sunlight.
