Windows in 2020 - HOT or NOT?
From the series "Window and door trends 2020"
Standard or maybe XXL? Sliding, swinging, tilting... Wood or rather aluminum or PVC? White? In a different color? What windows to choose for your home and what will be the undisputed hit this year? OknoPlus specialists on the hot trends of the season....
In 2020, as in previous years, construction and interior design is dominated by design in line with nature (biophilic design). The focus is on solutions that make the living space as open to the environment as possible, let in as much sunlight as possible, make it as easy as possible for homebuyers to have contact with nature, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. Nature and the view outside the window become an integral part of the house and its arrangement. Hence, among other things, the popularity of large-size glass panes, subtle window frames and glass with special properties....
Large glazing - HOT
The bigger - the hotter. We are talking about glazing that reaches from the floor to the ceiling, sometimes extending to the entire wall. On top are large sheets of glass, unbroken by divisions, smooth - without muntins. This means more light in the house and - in line with the biophilic design trend - a natural, green wall if there is, for example, a garden outside the window. Of course, a view of the forest, sky, beach, mountains, lake, etc. or simply a terrace decorated with plants is also ideal. Large-size windows, which have been fashionable for several seasons, will make their mark in construction for a long time to come.
Wide frames - NOT
XXL size and ever-larger sheets of glass in windows go hand in hand with increasingly subtle profiles. There is no longer any place for wide window frames today, which have become decidedly passe. They are reduced to a minimum - so that the first fiddle is played by the glass. For the same reason, hinges, for example, are not visible in modern window systems. Fittings are meticulously hidden so as not to visually disturb the sophisticated design and so that the whole, despite its dimensions, looks light. Narrow frames also allow better illumination of the interior.
Glass with greater transparency - HOT
For the sake of illumination, glazing with significantly increased (compared to standard) light transmission (77%) is also relied on. This is a hot trend in the context of design in line with nature and an extremely practical solution. Greater illumination of the interior (especially one with a deficit of sunlight - on the north side of the house, or a room where one works or stays most during the day) affects not only the design of the room, but, above all, the well-being of the household members.
Sliding structures - HOT
Slidingstructures are also on top this year. Large terrace windows that open this way save space and are more comfortable to use than others. The latest proposals available on the market are equipped with innovative hardware that guarantees fabulously light, smooth sliding of the sash (such as Morlite Vision). Opening and closing even very large glazing is made as easy as possible. This type of construction is also exceptionally conducive to blurring the boundaries between the space of the house and its natural surroundings.
Wooden windows - NOT
On the list of "not" go wooden windows. Although beautiful, natural and undoubtedly timeless, wooden windows are not entirely practical, because they are difficult to care for and maintain, and technically a bit worse than, for example, metal, they fit the trend of narrowing profiles. That's why it's much more common today to choose PVC windows that perfectly imitate the natural grain thanks to a veneer that is deceptively similar to various types of wood - including exotic wood.
An absolute hit, however, are...
Aluminum profiles - HOT
Elegant, modern, delicate, giving windows a very soft line - aluminum window profiles, are a must have of 2020. Slightly more expensive than wooden and PVC, but certainly worth the price. They look perfect in modern-style homes, but not only there. This is one of the most fashionable solutions among window and door systems today. A great advantage of aluminum profiles is also the freedom of their color. This is because they can take any color from the RAL palette. So the arrangement possibilities here are unlimited.
Bicolor instead of white - HOT
Manufacturers emphasize that white windows will be less and less popular in this and future seasons. On the other hand, bi-color windows will gain in popularity - a different color of woodwork from the outside of the house and another from the inside. The combinations popularly chosen today are stylish anthracite on the outside (contrasting with the color of the facade or repeating its shade) and the natural color of light wood on the inside. Bicolor gives unlimited possibilities for interior design regardless of the style and color scheme on the outside.

In conclusion... If we're building up this year (or just opening a new office), to be HOT, not NOT, we're definitely going for a large sliding window format. We can also choose modern glass with increased light transmission and consider (although this is a de lux version) aluminum profiles in a fashionable - natural color.
