Competition for students "Common Space " organized within the framework of the 8th International Biennale of Interior Architecture

descriptionOn April 11, 2024, the results of the 8th International Student Competition - Common Space - Spacescape / Spacexperience / Spacexperiment were announced during the 8th International Biennale of Interior Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Jan Matejko in Krakow.
The task of the students was to design the space of the courtyard of the headquarters of the Faculty of Interior Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at Syrokomla Street. The works were evaluated by the following criteria:
- idea and visionary design solutions;
- feasibility of the project;
- functionality and diversity of use;
- creative contribution to arranging the space of social / interpersonal relations;
- context of the place and user;
- aesthetics;
- consideration of social life;
- artistic and individual level of design presentation.
The works were judged by a jury consisting of:
- Prof. Dr. Andrzej Bednarczyk - JM Rector of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow;
- Prof. Takeshi Sukegawa - architect, China Academy of Art, Japan/China;
- Prof. George Katodrytis - architect, American University of Sharjah, UAE;
- Leopold Ajami - philosopher, Novel Philosophy Academy, Lebanon/ZEA;
- Szymon Hanczar, Ph.D. - interior architect, Faculty of Interior Design, Design and Scenography, Academy of Fine Arts, Wrocław, Poland;
- Katarzyna Księżopolska - editor-in-chief of Magazif;
- Prof.Mateusz Wróblewski, Ph.D. - interior architect, Faculty of Architecture and Design, UAP Poznań;
- Prof.Tomasz Daniec, Ph.D. - graphic artist, Dean of the Faculty of Graphics, Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts Cracow;
- Prof. dr. hab. Marek Blazucki - interior designer, Dean of the Faculty of Interior Design, Academy of Fine Arts Cracow.
51 works were submitted to the competition. 5 works were awarded.
