JURY OPINION
The project presented by the author concerns the architectural concept of a complex of buildings that complement and order the development of a specific Wrocław quarter, while at the same time the designed system itself can also be used in another location. The author, based on urban analysis and the assumptions of the Open Building Concept, proposes a structural frame with technical infrastructure, which is filled in with façade elements and internal spatial layout, which is influenced by future users in the project. The approach implies flexible shaping of building floor space and its adaptability to changing needs and functions. It is possible to modify building components and materials at different points in the building's life cycle. Thanks to the designed demountable elements, it is possible to achieve a smaller or larger area depending on the needed function. A factor that makes it possible to reuse the elements is the use of details and connections, thanks to which the segments can be disassembled without damage.
The jury appreciated the work for very good incorporation of the concept in the assumptions of circular economy, design approach in accordance with the principle of "design for disassembly", inclusion of residents in the design process, use of materials with low carbon footprint, successful revitalization of the developed quarter (including analyses of greenery and parking problem) and original and attractive architectural expression. It is worth noting that the designed building is based on modular solutions and prefabricated elements, which, however, does not lead to formal boredom and allows changes in the form of the building with the passage of time and changing needs.
