project
"Revitalization of a barn into a residential space with a woodcarving workshop"
jury's opinion
The awarded project captures the original character of the historic building. At the first floor level, the functional layout seamlessly integrates the various requirements of daily life along with a central, spacious living room with a high-hung ceiling. This height is emphasized by a system of bookcases and a staircase leading to the mezzanine, where an additional bedroom with a bathroom has been placed. The spatial arrangement promotes privacy and separation, but at the same time makes meetings easy and celebratory. The designer's goal was to reflect the materiality of the building's interior by adding elegant materials and decorations that match the overall concept. The building's interior is a good example of the optimal result, a carefully designed interior. A consistent design sensibility was applied to all elements, from the wood cladding to the placement of a lamp or table. Age will refine the aesthetics of this interior and ultimately create a unique character.
