The award was given for the successful solution to the difficult task of reconstructing and expanding the existing amphitheater with a distinctive form. The designers' actions definitely improved the functionality of the building while preserving the character of its architecture.
They showed how important conscious, balanced design decisions and respect for predecessors are for public space
