Jury's opinion
The project has been distinguished as an important voice in the difficult discussion on both practical ways out of homelessness and solving the too rarely addressed problem of waste management on the scale of an urban quarter.
The author's place of focus is Wroclaw's Nadodrze— an area where homelessness, its sources and related social problems are clearly visible on a daily basis. He proposes a controversial, but noteworthy, idea of sort of "civilizing" practices related to the reuse of what can be found among municipal waste at its "source." For people perhaps too stereotypically associated with such practices, he creates an urban seal as a basic squat-like shelter.
People in crisis of homelessness are often reluctant to move to the places offered to them, and here the author encourages habitation by means of offering a special service in the first floor— a junk lounge, i.e. a trash chamber expanded in the program, allowing a certain proportion of abandoned items to be segregated, replaced and used in detail.
